Pop Artists and how they inspired me:

Dua Lipa –

I researched Dua Lipa as my main pop artist because her music is mostly disco-pop and her vocal range is similar to the one I use when singing (mezzo-soprano). The reason I used her as my main focus is because she is a very successful British female singer and her music is recognised throughout the world by many people. Her songs “new rules” and “IDGAF” became worldwide favourites even being featured on platforms like tiktok. Dua Lipa can be seen as an inspiration to many young British girls and her music is fun and catchy to listen to. Her songs use upbeat, funky tunes that many people enjoy and I chose to use those same hyper beats in my music because they match my voice and style and are very fun for people to listen to and enjoy.

Justin Beiber –

Justin Beiber is a very well know artist through young and older generations for his genre-merging and modern day style. His song ‘baby’ was viral and to this day is still payed frequently and he is an influence for all, Justin inspired me for this project because from a young age he was singing and featuring in many songs and making himself a name. His music is catchy and very popular with slightly older generations (20s-30s). He was mostly the favourite of many teenage girls due to his looks and charisma on stage. Justin was also an inspiration for me because his music gained popularity very quickly with his music and to this day is still listened to and I wanted my music to be listen to just as his.

Loote –

Loote is a pop duo band that I listen to very frequently, their songs consist mostly of acoustic instruments, such as guitar and piano. Their songs “high without your love” and “tomorrow tonight” are both popular on Spotify and just like many other pop songs; very catchy. They originally started as a covers duo and now have grown to produce their own songs and are slowly gaining popularity and recognition. This band has helped make a big impact on my music style and helped me improve my voice and choose what style I can cover best, though I am trying many other styles. Their music has also helped me through many hardships and kept me going when I lose motivation to continue. The music they make has influenced most of my songwriting work for this project and I hope that it will be visible in my work.

Explaining my choice of work :

The reason I chose to use a premade beat off of YouTube is because I didn’t have the time nor equipment to produce my own. I used the best beat I could find which I thought would match the theme I originally chose and I had to change my lyrics so they would fit perfectly.

As seen in the songwriting folder in project 3, I’ve written the song for this project previously, a few adjustments have been made for this project, but I feel as though those are some of my best lyrics so far.

The lyrics I wrote explain an egotistical friendship. Most friendships these days never really work out and always fail due to things being said or people just falling out, or perhaps something more than a friendship being formed. I chose this theme because the lyrics fit the beat I chose perfectly and it also helps explain a situation I’ve experienced myself, wanting to be more than friends is a very common feeling in this generation and I wanted to make a song that was catchy and explained what it’s like.
