Performing Arts

I started the performing arts course in September 2021. The first project we conducted was a performance group piece along with a scrapbook showing our progress, and evaluations.

The script I worked on was called “Our country’s good” and I worked with 2 other students in the class. We had 2 weeks to rehearse and research our scripts and characters, the character I played was Arthur Philips who was Governor and in charge of a group of convicts and Royal Marines in Australia. The basis of the play is the convicts are working with the Marines and Governor to form a play which leads to bonds being tied with many people and it also brings along a sense of unison within the script.

With the information I gained on the play, I developed my character to give off a smoother performance. We performed our plays to the Year 2 Performing arts students and received feedback on how to develop many things, from vocal projection to stage presence.

I think my performance on the first ever script I’ve done went well and I’m proud of my understanding of the characters and background history. I think I could’ve improved my performance by researching more and making sure I use my surroundings appropriately on stage.
