The importance of a marketing strategy and different marketing strategies
“Marketing plans reveal the goal of strategic marketing. Organizations have found that plans containing this type of marketing are critical to achieving positive results in areas such as product and brand recognition and retaining and expanding their customer base.” (Sable, 2022)
Marketing is the pillar for any product that you want to sell, and its vital to have a good marketing strategy to launch a product, film, business, and basically anything else, it all needs a good marketing level to attract the masses, and nowadays marketing has to be very inclusive to reach to as many people as possible,
“Strategic marketing is what companies do when they have a written marketing strategy that guides all of their activities. It is long-term in character and serves as the foundation for all marketing decisions.” (Sable, 2022)
“A marketing strategy refers to a business’s overall plan to convince customers to buy its products or services. A marketing strategy determines how to reach prospective consumers and turn them into customers. It contains the company’s value proposition, key brand messaging, data on target customer demographics, and other high-level elements.”(Barone, 2024)
I agree with the statements above, I feel like a good marketing strategy is vital for any Brand, Company, or Production, a well made marketing strategy can launch your product really high, and help a lot to compete against other products in the market and stand out, is essential to have a long term marketing plan that can support a product to succeed in the market, no matter if its a film, brand, or anything, marketing Is the pillar for any product to succeed, an example would be the film The Blair Witch Project which had a great marketing strategy that was very unique and creative
“Marketing. A missing person poster showing Heather Donahue, Joshua Leonard, and Michael C. Williams as part of the film’s marketing campaign tactic to portray its events as real. The Blair Witch Project is thought to be the first widely released film marketed primarily by the Internet.”(Wikipedia Contributors)
a marketing strategy is a priority nowadays for any brand or product, a marketing strategy is a long term strategy for a company or brand to attract more and more audience towards their product, it can also be making slogan or rebranding a product to adapt how quickly the industry and audiences change and for newer generations, an example could be Pringles who changed their logo to make it more modern and inclusive (example) a good product without good marketing becomes a bad product, having a marketing strategy is essential and mandatory, an example would be the film industry(Add example) where you can find a vast evidence of how critical marketing is, there’s lots of films that are great but didn’t succeed because of bad marketing strategies or not enough marketing and branding
(example)

also many companies that try to be inclusive with their representation tend to not be real about it which makes them lose audience and gives them a very bad image, another example would, when in June LGBTQ+ community is celebrating pride month all the companies change their logos to LGBTQ trying to show them that they support them, but at the end of the month and the rest of the year they never support or talk about that topic again which the audience can see through those companies,
An example would be”rainbow capitalism” is when companies prominently display LGBTQ+ pride-themed products or branding during Pride Month (June) but don’t support the community through the rest of the year, through meaningful actions, like donations, advocacy, or inclusive policies. One example that made criticism in the past is Bud Light. In 2023, the beer brand partnered with transgender influencer Dylan Mulvaney for a marketing campaign, which was seen as an attempt to profit from LGBTQ+ audiences. However, when backlash arose, the company appeared to distance itself from the campaign, leading to accusations of insincerity. This kind of performative allyship profiting from LGBTQ+ representation without sustained support has been criticized as a way for brands to capitalize on a social movement without genuinely advancing the cause.
Key features of the Media Museum strategy
The actual strategy for the media museum is attracting more families then independent adults or teenagers, they’re current strategy lacks of social media adverts and attracting diverse audiences and younger generation like teenagers or independent adults, I think they don’t have much to offer for diverse audiences and attract culturally diverse audience, their current strategy doesn’t have much social media activity which is a big loss for them, because the majority of Gen z and younger generations are on social media, I’ve personally have never heard or seen any marketing or adds related to their current strategy, but I think one the most attractive things they have is their building which is very appealing, and something that calls my attention every time I walk around city park, they’re currents strategy focuses more in families and lacks of diversity which they desperately need, we are in the city of culture and the diversity in here is a part of the city and West Yorkshire over all.
Trend-Awares
Trend awards is culture and diversion and inclusion, which is a essential to have if you’re in the city of culture, Bradford, trend aware is essential nowadays because of the large audiences that there are around the world, being culturally diverse does not only attract people from the respective culture but also other people who are passionate to learn and see new things, including different cultures to your brand or product can be very appealing and interesting for a lot of people making the product stand out and noticed more, the UK is one of the most diverse countries in the world, and that’s why is so important to be inclusive and have a representation of different cultures, trend aware is to add different type of cultures and be inclusive to give something special and unique to the audience, to give a memorable and unique experience showing unique and diverse type of audiences.
Examples of a good marketing strategy

“On top of the budget is a reported marketing spend of $100 million. That Marvel spent half of the movie’s total budget on marketing is no real surprise given the immense level of publicity that has been seen throughout Spring and Summer 2024, which included myriad off-piste brand partnerships (such as the cheeky Xbox controller) and a sprawling press tour from the filmmakers.”(Bradley, 2024)
An examples of good marketing could be like the recent Deadpool and Wolverine where the marketing was very entertaining and showed well their product, and targeted their audience well, with a marketing strategy that had a lot of humour and comedy that attracted the audience that are fans of such films, and also I think they used Wolverine well for their branding and attracting the audience that was a fan of a big and well known character like that, they were making good videos that had comedy and felt like they were comedy sketches, they swell chose some catchy songs that went viral over the internet, the cast was a big help for the film as well, having big Hollywood actors, like Rayan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman, which were in many other Marvel movies, and the audience was really excited to see them together for the first time, I think they used very well their fan following, making insta videos and shorts that helped making the movie more known, their fans also started to make edits and made trends that attracted other people that did not knew about the film yet, or were not that interested for the movie, I think this shows how Important a good cast can be and how big of a priority is to use marketing for social media,
TikTok adds\ Social Media
“TikTok is the fastest growing social media platform, with over 1 billion active monthly users globally, but are TikTok ads effective, and should TikTok hold a place in your marketing strategy? The short answer to this question is yes, advertising on TikTok is highly effective, particularly if your brand or business appeals to Generation Z. According to TikTok, 83% of users find the app’s advertisements entertaining, and 1 in 4 users worldwide have bought or looked into a product after seeing it on the app (source: TikTok).”(Southgate, 2023)
As said in the statement above, TikTok adds can get to be very entertaining if they’re done well, and they use the trend and music that is popular and viral, you can gather a big amount of profit and attention to your product, a great way to do this is by making your add look like an viral video instead of making it look like an add, which can make the people think they’re not watching an add, but more like a video about a product, 1 in 4 users that’s 250 million users
One of the biggest ways to attract an audience is using a more quick and short video like a TikTok or Reel for Instagram to quickly capture the audiences attention and interest, because of the short and quick message they have, those type of videos tend to be amazing because of the algorithm that they have, a well made video can get to gather a big amount of views, constant videos that use trendy music and themes can make a big profit for your business and marketing.
“The only exception is when you watch your own videos. Views from yourself won’t be counted. So, even if someone just stayed on your for a second, it will still count as a view. This means that racking up your TikTok can be easier than on other platforms.”(Atkins, 2023)
As its said in the statement above, it can be a lot more easy to get views in TikTok than any other platform, TikTok has a big quantity of users, but this does not mean to only focus on this one platform social media is a big opportunity for any brand company that is interested to attract the different type of audiences, and having target audience is a really helpful to decide which platform to focus on more,
“TikTok has 1.04 billion monthly active users worldwide.
.”(Dean, 2023)
Marketing strategy for Media Museum
I feel like the media museum has a lot of fun and great things that make it a fun place to visit with friends or family, but as I said before even a good product is bad product without the right marketing, I think they really need to add a lot to their social medias and make them look like a good page to visit and see, adding things like videos or photos about the place and the variety of things that it offers, having a team that is in charge of it and it makes the place look good in every video and picture, also having having some adds in their accounts, like short and entertaining like a TikTok, Short, Reel, also use the big platforms like Facebook, Instagram, Youtube, Twitter, and TikTok, to get as many views as possible and gather a lot of attention, I think another great way to gather popularity could be having banners around Bradford and collaborating with near by colleges, secondaries, and primaries. constant add videos on social media is a big way to get views and popularity, using trends and music that is trending, making good quality and constant videos is a great marketing move, I tie is important to make the adds look like entertaining videos instead of adds,
another great way to attract big audiences is to be inclusive and diverse, We have to be aware that we are in the city of culture and its the city with mos diversity in the whole UK, so having that in mind, The Media Museum should definitely consider showing things related to other cultures and Film Industries, Like Bollywood
“Hollywood produces 500 films per year on average and has a worldwide audience of 2.6 billion whereas Bollywood produces more than 1000 (not consistently) films every year and has a worldwide audience of 3 Billion. In terms of vieweship, Bollywood overtook Hollywood in 2004 and has been leading ever since.”(Website, 2024)
“Amidst all the glamor and dazzle of Hollywood, people often forget about the world’s other movie capital – India. Firmly established in Mumbai, which was formerly known as Bombay (hence the Bollywood nickname), the Indian film industry is expected to grow to 138 billion Rupees by 2014 – that’s $2.28 billion. The numbers are certainly impressive – in terms of the number of films produced each year, Bollywood is firmly on top of the pile with 1,602 in 2012 alone.” (McCarthy, 2014)
and we do have a very large South Asian population in Bradford, and from may other places where Bollywood is the first choice for people, Bollywood is big in many other countries apart of India and Pakistan, having huge celebrities like Shah Rukh Khan and Amir Khan which both of them are globally famous, and worldwide known,
“If you haven’t already heard of Shah Rukh Khan — First, where have you been? Second, why?! — it’s beyond time to get to know the Bollywood megastar. As The Times put it in 2011: SRK “is the biggest movie star you’ve never heard of.” But a lot has changed in the last decade, and if his movies aren’t baked into the American cinema-going DNA, they certainly are in South Asia. The movie star arguably commands a larger fan following than any other working actor in the world, given India’s 1.4 billion population and its recent distinction as the world’s most populous country. However, Khan told CNN’s Fareed Zakaria in 2016 that half of his fans are from other places, presumably with many hailing from the Indian diaspora. Few, if any, actors have comparable popularity, domestically or abroad.”(Saad, 2023)
“Khan’s enduring appeal is a testament to his talent, adaptability and the deep connection he has forged with audiences worldwide. As Bollywood continues to evolve, Shah Rukh Khan’s influence on the industry and his place in the pantheon of global cinema icons seems assured.“(Ramachandran, 2024)
“Since the 1990s, the largest overseas market for Indian cinema has been the South Asian diaspora.[44] South Asians in the United Kingdom were the first major diaspora market, with Indian film releases in the United Kingdom dating back to the 1950s.[45]“(Wikipedia Contributors, 2024)
so I think having Bollywood merchandise and products on shops, or having more Hollywood representation could be a major benefit economically and popularity wise, so I think having Bollywood cd’s to buy, and having some other merchandise could be very beneficial for The Science Media Museum, also them having a Cinema it could also benefit that being. Bollywood a popular choice in Bradford, and the museum could also be the first choice for anyone that wants to watch a Bollywood films or re watch an old one, or get any merchandise about it, shirts, posters, music Cd’s and Vinyl’s, books, Bollywood is huge and has a big market full of big opportunities, being also very rich in culture and representing South Asia, and there isn’t any competition in Bradford, so the media museum could be the first place to do it and gather a lot of attention and constant visits to the museum, I personally always wanted to visit a place that has a Bollywood theme, and not just me, my friends and family always wanted to go places like that, and there isn’t any, so being the first one is very beneficial , Bollywood is not just popular in Asia but also in the whole of Asia and other continents.
“I couldn’t believe my eyes as I saw videos of people back home watching a Bollywood movie on cinema screens and over 500 people dancing to a classic SRK track in the theatre,” said Mogus Zelalem, a native of Addis Ababa, currently living in London.Rajkumar Hirani’s directorial ‘Dunki’ was released in Ethiopian theatres following the release of ‘Tiger 3’ last year, receiving widespread love from fans. A video surfaced on X (Twitter) where a crowd of people were dancing to the song “Lutt Putt Gaya” featured in the film. They mimicked Bollywood star Shah Rukh Khan (SRK)’s steps and rejoiced at the music they have loved for decades.” (Mitra, 2024)
“Indian films have recently risen in popularity in China, and apolitical productions focused on romance or social themes that China and India share especially may have found a profitable niche. In 2017, “Dangal,” a film about a father who overcomes patriarchal norms to train daughters as professional wrestlers, winning glory for India in the process, became a surprise smash hit in China. It grossed $193 million at the Chinese box office, 16 times more than the $12 million it made in India.” (Twitter, 2019)
I think they could make something interactive with Bollywood, like a poster with facts about musicals and have a projector that shows the musical if you click a button,
I think it would be better to have a live performance ion the Imax cinema, wh9ohc could be interactive, actors singing and dancing would give a memorable experience,
