Set List:
Puff Daddy – I’ll Be Missing You
Coolio – Gangsta’s Paradise
Cranberry – Zombie
What Happened?:
For the first song, I played the Keyboard with a Piano pre-set for the melody pattern in I’ll Be Missing You and it was 4 bars, across the whole song and ends on the G of the 1st bar, this is played throughout the whole song
For the Second song, I played the Keyboard again, but using a strings pre-set and I played the strings section of Gangsta’s Paradise and I played the same throughout the whole song with my own variations in the Rhythm, like using a dotted and triplet rhythm
For the final song, I switched to Bass for Zombie and I would say I had a lot of fun doing this. I mean playing a new instrument you can experiment and learn so much from it, which I did for this song; Instead of going with the bassline I was asked to do, on the 4th bar at the end of it, I would do 2323 on the 1st string, but instead of that I did 232 and quickly switched to the second string right behind the 2nd fret for variation on most parts and for the Breakdown. I played the bass in half-time for 3 bars, then back to 4/4 until the drop and it would stay like that until another breakdown
Evaluation:
Overall, I played very well; with a couple mistakes on the first song and third song. I played around with the rhythms for the second song and settled with one for the Final Performance when it happened later that night.
our whole band made the mistake of wating too long at the beginning because we thought we had to be told to be called on and ended up making everyone wait about 2 minutes.
What Went Well:
Playing the set list went very well, the switchovers were done well and needed to improve, but overall, everything went smoothly and not to harsh.
Even Better If:
There are a few things to be improved. such as staying focused and not letting myself drift off from the song and playing the same note into the next bar ( Yes I did that ). I need to practice more often and ahead of time and keep myself focused and on schedule.
