Final Performance and Reflection

Final Performance

Set List:
Puff Daddy – I’ll Be Missing You
Coolio – Gangsta’s Paradise
Cranberry – Zombie

What happened?
For the first song, I’ll be missing you, I was playing the Keyboard with a Grand piano pre-set and would play for four bars across the whole song. I ended on the G of the first bar. As this was played throughout the whole song it created a repetitive pattern, causing the learning time to be faster and more sufficient.
For the second song, Gangsta’s paradise, I again played the Keyboard, this time using a strings pre-set and I played the strings section of the song and repetitively played it adding my own variations in the Rhythm such as the dotted and triplet rhythm.
The last song I decided to play the Bass guitar. Zombie the song we was playing would have been the best one of the night; I had a lot of fun learning a new instrument . I was able to experiment. For the bassline I was asked to do I adapted it so on the fourth bar at the end it would have been of 2323 on the first string, but I changed it so I did a 232 on the same first string. Nearer to the end I would switch to the second string and fret for variations and the breakdown. I played the bass in half-time for 3 bars, then back to 4/4 until the drop and it would stay like that until another breakdown.

Evaluation:
Overall, since last year I have improved my musical skills in both playing and performing. In my opinion the performance went fantastic and I am proud of everyone and myself for pulling everything together.

What Went Well?
Throughout the whole performance of our band, we only made one mistake but we fixed it up and continued to play smoothly.

Even Better If?
If I was to do this again, I would rehearse at home and in college in advance. I would also keep up with my class work so id have time to practice and learning new skills and boosting my confidence would help me improve for the future.
