Reasons for choice –
I picked these specific fills and beats because they all were extremely difficult to learn for me, some of them sound quite simple but for example the amen break is quite complicated to get your head around, as it has a weird sounding 4 bar repeat. One of them specifically I’m proud to of learnt is the john Bonham beat, where it requires a-lot of good foot control. This beat was near impossible for me to play when I first attempted it, so this is the reason why I chose to show I was able to play it.
What went well ? –
The fact that I’m able to play each beat is good in my opinion, but to have built up speed with each one is what I’ve impressed myself most by , and being able to play them slow and fast is what I consider to be a good way to learn for me. Learning the rudiments for different fills is a challenge, but I achieved a good consistent single stroke sticking in the fill, crossing the hands is what makes it extra difficult otherwise its just R L R L around the kit, but again building up the speed over time has developed my skills when it comes to rudiments.
Even better if –
It would be even better if could consistently play the beats to a good standard. At the moment, I can just about get a good few bars with okay technique, so being able to be more consist when playing is going to be a good goal.
reflection –
I’m happy to of received a good mark for my reflection skills as I’ve usually gotten satisfactory which shows improvement.
target 1 – the way to improve on my technical skills while playing is simply practice, a good way to do this is on a practice pad where I could learn all my rudiments in a simple affective way.
target 2 – To improve in my evaluations is to be even more in depth. I’ve wrote a lot more than my previous initial assessment , but I need to write more on how I could improve on what I say what I could of done better.
