final project extended presentation

Evaluation –

Compared to my first final project presentation, I’ve included a lot more information, which enabled me to speak further about what I was planning. I could go into more detail, and explain more thoroughly about my thoughts and process within the project. A big part of this small success is that in this project, I have a much better idea of what I want to do as a whole, I have a better idea of what I want to produce, and have a lot more clear inspirations and objectives, which hopefully will lead to a better project overall.

In this presentation I’ve also included a range of colours, videos and images to add a touch of personality to make it a little more engaging as a presentation, opposed to a solid background and text, however as mentioned in peer feed back, I still tend to look towards the screen when presenting which takes away from the overall engagement.

However, improvements that could have been made are within my plan. I need to include experimentation time. Since my project consists of many different recording and production techniques I need time to spend and find out whats going to work for me, and if I want to actually use those ideas. What I’ll do is allocate a few hours a week in my free time and college to just experiment with synthesisers, audio affects and recording techniques to more hone into what I eventually want.

As well I need to look into different synth techniques as lewis says I need to pick the right technique to correctly match what Im trying to achieve. That doesn’t mean I don’t want to do the modular synthesis any more, because this project is more about learning how to use them, and expand my knowledge on production. to more accurately get the sound I want I’d have to research the production methods used by IDM artists like my main influence Aphex twin, and try to replicate it to get that genres sound.

Another key part of the project I didn’t take into account is health and safety factors which include volume levels and other such things like bass response, and how it can effect my ears when producing. Addressing this, to correctly balance out the bass I’d need to listen to it at a higher volume so taking frequent breaks will help prevent ear damage.
