I experimented with the ink and string to create this. I dipped the string into the ink and laid it onto the paper in a random pattern then closed the book and began to pull the string from the bottom. I like how this turned out because it was a new technique for me and it was fun. I will probably include using ink in some way in my final piece.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I wanted to experiment and see how henna would look on different medias such as crayon, gouache paint, water colour and highlighter ink. I also added a patch of henna to see how it would look with the henna pattern on it. They all worked well with the henna. I personally like how the henna looked on top of the henna patch and the green patches of gouache paints because of how the colours compliment the deep brown of the henna. I will most likely be using henna in my final piece to add texture and make it look 3D. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Screen printing- For this I used white and green paints to represent the colours of the Pakistan flag. This did not go very well as I did not plan any design beforehand to prepare for this workshop. I did not enjoy doing this workshop because it was not as interesting to me as the other workshops. I will most likely not use this technique in my final product. It would have been better if I swiped the colours two more times so there would not be any blank spaces. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

This is a henna pattern I did on tracing paper to use in darkroom. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

This was the first attempt in darkroom with the henna design. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

These were the other attempts I did in darkroom and I added other things like flowers, lace and loose flower petals to fill in the blank spaces around my design. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

These were my failed attempts. They failed because I did not put the see through sheet on top to keep the tracing paper from lifting which made it look faded. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

I enjoyed this workshop because the henna was interesting to work with and I like the extra detail i added. For next time i would not cut around the tracing paper so that the outline is not visible.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
