The culture I have chosen to do for my project is Pakistan. I chose Pakistan because it is my culture but due to being born and raised in Britain, I was not taught my language or anything much about my culture so I would like to use this project to express me rediscovering myself. My theme\/concept is myself and how different I was raised compared to girls in Pakistan. To generate and develop my ideas I made multiple mind maps and mood boards of Pakistan and myself. The artists I have chosen to work with are Imran Qureshi and Shehzil Malik. Their work has influenced and inspired my ideas from the messages they relay with their bold styles. I have gathered additional research by collecting various primary and secondary images and using them to create mood boards. I intend to use printmaking techniques and dark room processes. I aim to use materials gouache\/watercolour\/acrylic paint. I plan on to experiment with my ideas by trying to work with henna or any other materials that would be commonly used in Pakistan. For my final piece I am thinking of creating a piece that highlights the parallel between who I was raised to be and who I am. This will probably be done digitally or traditionally on a canvas. If I do choose to do it on canvas, I hope to use henna to create a 3D texture to the piece.
