. Pleasure island for me will be in my heart. Unfortunately, It is very difficult to get any sort of primary research for this topic as the park closed in 2016. And as a result, most if not all rides have been removed. But that does not stop me from talking about how much of a great park it was. I wanted to include pleasure island in here not only because it relates to my theme for this project. But deep down when I think of my memories. I think of this theme park in Cleethorpes. The rides that are portrayed here are my favourite from the park. My most favourite being the hydro-max. There are other reasons other than the theme park to why I enjoy Cleethorpes. Firstly, the seafront. There are lots of foods to eat and arcades to go to. When I was younger, I used to love going to toy shops. It was full of model cars and toys.
. It is a one-of-a-kind experience taking a day out at the Blackpool pleasure beach resort. There are lots of attractions to explore and rides. In terms of it linking to memories, the pleasure beach is up there. I have been to this attraction many times for years and I am still planning going.
. Images I have took from my day out at Blackpool. I will begin to Mood-board Particular images I like.
. Another mood-board containing mainly different angles of the Pepsi max. On other images you can see the Ice-blast. I really like how these have turned out, especially the image with the upward view shot of the ride.
. Again, another mood-board with only showcasing the Blackpool tower. Experimenting with zoom up shots at the top of the tower. Also, having a similar if not the same idea at taking angled shots at the tower like I did with the Pepsi-max. As a result the same applies to these pictures in which I liked the way they turned out. And I am looking forward to further developing these.
. My favourite Mood-board out of the bunch. I love the way these have turned out. There are lots of things going on with each image here, like how the clouds look to the waves on the sea, to the sand dunes and the steps. I really like the atmosphere these images bring. Also, the weather was lovely which is a big plus in terms of it looking great.
. This is an interesting Mood-board. Whilst taking these pictures, I thought to myself these could turn out into something proper cool. The way each individual pebbles look, and the way some of them sink into the sand. I think using photoshop for these will make them look fantastic with the right experimentation.
. Whilst I was strolling at Blackpool, I took these pictures of both the Central and South piers. I really like how the South pier pictures have turned out. I like the way the pier ascends from the outer bit of the frame towards the middle.
. Making a separate Mood-board that has my favourite pictures I took from Blackpool. Especially the tower photo with the seagull. Also, linking one picture from here that I will use for my final piece.
. Moving on from Mood-boards, this is the part where I get experimental. I wanted to re-create the Blackpool tower using paper cut outs and a 3D cube from a 2D net. Unfortunately, as I mentioned here I would have done this task again. I was not able to on time.
. With this being only my typography piece I have done. I think it links to the Blackpool theme, which is why I am adding it.
. Another task on the Blackpool tower. Using the grid, light and scale method task. I wanted to create a perspective on the tower using these techniques.
. Moving on from the Blackpool tower, I wanted to sketch two rides I enjoy at Blackpool Pleasure Beach.
. Considering how I could further develop my sketches. I wanted to explore how my sketch would look after experimenting with curves, exposure and levels. And here are my results.
. Having another attempt at sketching, I think this turned out okay. This reminds me a lot of Alfreds Wallace’s work with the buildings he portrays. Because of the buildings I have drawn in this piece.
. I enjoy making repeat patterns, and I want to include them within my work. The seagull repeat pattern here looks simplistic but effective. The diagonal pattern might be my favourite layout form of a repeat pattern. I think this would look fantastic on a wrapping paper design, or maybe on a wallpaper design. So, talking about how I could develop this further. I introduced some gradients, I think adding colour especially to a repeat pattern makes this look even more better in terms of appearance. Which is exactly what I did, and In my opinion. It makes this repeat pattern look absolutely amazing. I got this seagull design from the Blackpool tower image I took. Which links to the images I got from Blackpool.
I don’t think this piece turned out great, I could’ve further developed this and made it look better. However, looking at the sky it looks interesting. I love how the different blue’s form together making a pattern almost. The clouds look nice in this piece too. Not so much for the sea and sand.
