Turning an EP into a Single

At the start of the project, I had the idea of making a two-song EP Which was going to be a step up from last year when I wanted to make three songs but then brought it down to one song after realising I wouldn’t make the deadline.

After making halfway through the project, I realised that I had made more of a dent in one song and I was also losing interest in the other song so I thought it would be best if I had abandoned the second song and just focus all my attention on the first song for time sake. The thought of mixing and mastering would always come to mind thinking I would need at least one and a half weeks to finish both mixing and mastering at a satisfactory level.

Going from writing one song to two I knew it wasn’t a small feat, but I wanted to do better than last time when attempting it. I knew that juggling both songs and making sure that both reach the bridge in time and also writing lyrics and recording vocals is a big responsibility, one I knew would be worth the trouble. But like last time showed that even with good planning I needed to be better so I packed it in and changed the plan.

My other classmates did an EP but instead of two original songs they did one cover and one original which was a good idea, I could have incorporated this format and made a remix and an original this would shake up the pattern and also be something new to me and a challenge.

The problem is that I initially wanted to make a two-song EP this would push me to work faster and harder but with the time frame and my slow working, I had to find a way around that by going down to one song which has been more developed and easy to work with.
