Section 1: Context (approx. 300 words)
I think this idea will help me with confidence and help with accepting collaborations and working with them and accepting their ideas and going from the two song EP task will allow me to do this and also help with my song writing and producing skill which will have improved throughout the last year. Along with production and song writing I have also improved with confidence and critical listening I can hear the difference between condensed and non-condensed sounds which a year ago I would never hear the difference from. Also, during last year, I learned the ropes for mixing my own song this was where I learned a lot about leveling and organization which is somethings I am going to bring to this project. During the first project of this year, I wanted to focus more on production then performance so for the live wire performance I operated the sound and lights. I like the perspective of working on the technical side of a live performance. Late last year we had the project to work in an ensemble and practice a number of songs and perform them to a group of people and to a camera crew. My group was lucky enough to perform to year 6’s from Parkside this did help my performance confidence and to know I can play to a large group of people. Back in the first year we had a project that made us mix a song made by someone else in the year above and we had to get a feel of what to do when mixing a song and edit all the mistake and using EQ. Also in the first year we did a temporary distortion task where we was given a scene with no sound and had to make a soundtrack to the clip once finished we exported the music to logic because their instruments sound better.
Section 2: Research (approx. 50 words)
Youtube videos: . I will use Labrinth talking about his music on euphoria / and past productions. . Another video I will be looking at how songs using synths and guitar riffs. . I will also be looking at production techniques and synth making Books/Articles: . I will research guitar scales and how they are used in songs . Another article I will use is looking at the artists earlier work
Section 3: Problem solving (approx. 100 words)
. when writing lyrics and i start to get writers block i will go off and ask one of my peers or tutors for help or their opinion. . if I am working on a melody with a synth or working on a guitar riff i may look to my project inspirations for help. . Last year on my last final project work I was meant to work with a friend but we never got around to working together and in the end, I had to adapt and come up with a way around and in my opinion the final work is better then what we initially had in mind. . In the first year the band I was in was missing our singer due to her health and when it came down to it we had to work with stand ins who didn’t know the ques we had been practicing for weeks so we had to work around this change.
Section 4: Planning and production (approx. 50 words)
. I plan on using all weeks in this project including the two weeks of Easter but I won’t be working during those two weeks but think about next steps and what I have done so far. . Because of my main focus being production, I want to put all my time on production and worry about vocals and lyrics second because I can always make an instrumental track to fall back on just in case. . If I do decide to write lyrics I will need to give myself some time to writ because I am not to experienced with lyric writing.
Section 5: Practical skills (approx. 100 words)
. Critical listening – In the past this has been a skill that I have been meaning to work on a lot and try to perfect when producing I would like to listen out for any imperfections and what needs to go where I have been told to practice this skill back in last year’s final project. . Evaluation & Reflection – after every week I plan on making a screen recording and talk about what I did that week and what I need to do next as well as what went well and what didn’t I haven’t done anything like this before but we did tease the idea of screen recording my work for ease of use and not much typing and description. . Planning – I need a clear plan not one I did last time but one clearer and straight forward not something not so detailed and empty.
Section 6: Evaluation and reflection (approx. 100 words)
. I have been thinking about making a somewhat journal on DS to document my decision making and ideas that appear and how they could change my work but also how the week went in more detail. . The idea of screen recording my work and talking over what I did is one I like and decreases the stress of not writing enough words to describe my though proses and decisions now that it can been seen first-hand. . My weekly plan and thoughts will be documented separately from my weekly evaluation to share new ideas and ones I thought of but won’t use.
Section 7: Presentation (approx. 100 words)
. This work isn’t set on views and attention my main focus is to get the grade and make something I am proud of and not worry about outside opinions. . I plan on releasing the song unlisted but let it be seen on the showcase. . I don’t really have an idea of the target audience as of yet but it all depends on lyrics I would understand that the viewer would need an understanding of music but I’m not really sure what that will be I would probably cap the age at 35-40 depending on how they feel about the music and if they are willing to listen.
