For this project, we were put into groups of three and picked three/four songs of which we have to perform in front of an audience of a secondary school or primary school. We have been given this task back in early September and have to deliver it to the schools in early-mid November.
The set-list our group picked was a number of songs we thought we could play and once that fitted Lucy’s voice after having a list of 6-8 songs we narrowed it down to the three we all agreed on we, didn’t perform in the first week but instead we had a look at what songs to choose and the agreeable tutorials to learn.
After a couple weeks of practice and performance we had upgraded our set-list to 4 songs since we had learnt and know our three songs in just under a month so we now have Come Together – the Beatles, Someone You Loved – Lewis Capaldi, Do I Wanna Know – Arctic Monkeys and now just added Take Me To Church – Hozier. In two of the songs I play piano (Someone You Loved and Do I Wanna Know) in one I play the guitar (Come Together) and in the last one I used a shaker and a tambourin (Take Me To Church).
To help out in working on our performance on the three song set list John told us that their is the cafe gig which will be introduced on Wednesday breaks.
But because of the resent changes due to the rise in covid the idea of going to schools to perform has been abandoned and we was just recorded instead in B25. But only one school stuck with us performing and John had to chose who to go to the one school.
RECORDED PERFORMANCE
PARKSIDE VISIT
After the recording week John got me, Abi, Lucy and Tia in a group chat and let us know that we was the few that was selected to go to the schools and perform our four songs in front of there yea 10 – 11 music students to show them what they will be doing in Bradford college if they decide to go to study music in college.
It was a good experience and helped me in some way of helping me with stage fright but I still like sitting in a studio making music then standing on a stage but I have been wanting to get better with confidence and I wont be getting better thought spectating others.
OVERALL
The small group of ensemble was a good practice to work in a group and all learn a song together and play it in front of our peers, college and a school it was a nerve-wrecking experience but I gained some more confidence playing to people I don’t know rather then the same people week-in week-out, I have learnt something from this project and it was leaning experience one that I will remember and use further in my career.
