Siouxsie was inspired by cinema psychological thrillers and works of director Alfred Hitchcock this is how she got the idea to make “Spellbound”. Siouxsie leaves the song open to interpretation, Some have speculated the song is about paranormal horror which makes sense because it links to her love of psychological thrillers, some thought it was about the hypocrisy of religious figures.
