This is the first song we got to rehearse, It is Mardy Bum by Arctic Monkeys, I play bass on this song. The term mardy bum refers to someone who is moody or moans a lot. The song is also about a long term relationship on the rocks.

Live version of Mardy Bum performed at T in the park 2006 at Strathclyde Country Park

This is the bass tab I used to learn how to play the song, before I just played the root notes and followed the rhythm guitar.

The second song we got is Hey Joe by Jimi Hendrix, again I play bass on this song. This song is about a man going to Mexico to shoot his wife due to her being unfaithful in their relationship. Jimi Hendrix actually covered this song and the original artist is Billy Roberts

I’ve found the best cover version of Hey Joe. I couldn’t find the band that was playing this cover but this is probably the best cover of Hey Joe.

This is the tab that I used to learn Hey Joe. It’s a pretty easy song to play.
I learned this song on guitar last year in my instrumental lessons with Eric.

The third song we chose as a band to play is Go with the Flow by Queens of the Stone. The song is about dealing with a love interest who won’t commit. He tells her he’ll “go with the flow,” meaning accept her terms and let it play out but with a caveat: “Don’t say it doesn’t matter anymore,” he asks.

Bass tab I used to learn the song. Another easy song to play on bass.
