Production

I wasn’t present for the the filming side due to being at a funeral abroad.
After I came back I was tasked with editing the show but I had 2 weeks left until the December holidays so I had to put the files on a USB and work from home. Together with Aimee we managed to edit the show before the deadline.
The first thing to do was watch through all the scenes and determine which scenes to use then in Adobe Premiere Pro we cut scenes down and matched up the audio.
After that came adding in the ADR ( Automated Dialogue Replacement) which we managed to do before the holiday as all of the voice actors were in for the day.
After all that was done me and Aimee started working on adding in the sound effects and visual effects.
I added in a spinning wheel with different historical time periods and clicking sounds as it spun around with a cheerful “YAY” at the end when it lands on WW2

After I had made the music we started working on the intro and what it should be, I was thinking of doing an animated intro but that would take too long to do so Aimee came up with the idea of getting a stock video of pigeons.
The music for the intro was made quickly due to how much time we had left so I came up with something that would suit the style of the show.
The next song I made was for Ration Fashion, Which is a EDM/Disco track. Inspirations for this song was the many fashion shows on YouTube
Also for Ration Fashion Aimee had some video effects on her laptop so we used one of them for the ending of that scene where it cuts just before the “Ration Chef” gets hit with a potato. The video effect says “No Signal” with a glitch effect and loud beep sound. I found it funny because it reminds me of the perfectly cut meme videos on YouTube.
There was a problem with Lewis’s microphone I think it was turned off so we had to rely on the built-in microphone on the camera and then boost the volume up when Lewis come on stage as the “Ration Chef”

The Hospital scene I noticed the colour of the shots were different one of them was bright and in a neutral tone and the other shot was darker blue tone so I fixed that and made them both match the same colours and tone, Another thing that was fixed was when Laura shouts it was redlining and clipping in the audio so I fixed that by lowering the volume and automating it in Adobe Premiere.

The Juan scenes were tricky to edit mainly because of how many foley and sound effects that had to be used because all of the sound was taken out due to ADR, They way that I did this was go to the part where I needed to put in foley sounds and move the scene 1 second each to place the sound in perfectly.
I used the green screen shots for the first 2 scenes and switched to the scene with the black curtain of the last scene because Rose was wearing a green dress and Adobe kept chroma keying her dress and the green screen.
For the green screen scenes I found a black curtain that matched with the one that was used.

The corney coo scenes were the easiest to edit because it was one scene that was repeated with added sound effects and music from lucky star as background music. This was Aimee’s idea and it works for the show same goes for the quiz scenes.

With the Phunk scene we encountered problems when editing. We noticed that the green screen wasn’t lit enough for Adobe to chroma key it which left the areas where it wasn’t lit enough to look grey instead of black. I tweaked some setting in chroma key to get all the areas of the green screen black. I tried by best to make it look unnoticeable in the show. There was another problem in this scene where you can see green reflecting on Em and Jenny which I don’t know how to remove.

The Party scene was as tricky due to all the camera changes there was one minor problem with this scene. Rose’s mic didn’t work so shes hard to hear in this scene. What I tried to do was raise the volume every time she spoke so she can be heard.

For the last scene Border Control the camera colours and tone were off on all 3 shots so I tried to match them all to the same colour and tone.
I also added walking sounds and a gate being opened sound to this scene.
