Kids in America

The song was written by Kim Wilde’s brother Rickey and Marty Wilde.
Her Father Marty Wilde was a popular Singer in the 50’s and 60’s and was among the first British pop stars.
The story behind this song is about a girl “looking out a dirty old window” and she is telling the guy what to do.
The song is also about how kids in America had a more interesting and dangerous life because they weren’t doing does kinds of thing in England during the 80’s.

The synths you can hear in the song were done by Ricky Wilde using a Wasp synth, Which really annoyed Kim when Rickey was playing it in his bedroom and she wanted to listen to Joni Mitchell.
Kim Wilde also said “it had a sort of pulsing beat which ended up turning into Kids in America”
