When I started to create music on Ableton I had a rough idea of what the music would sound like especially the theme song.
I wanted to make a theme song including marching, marching drums and planes flying but I ended up scrapping the idea because it was too ambitious and I come up with a melody to go with it.
At home I would learn how to make simple EDM beats
inspired by artists like Deadmau5, Skrillex and Daft Punk.
I would look on YouTube for Ableton tutorials and how these artists created their melodies, chord progressions and drums to help me create my own track.
The first track that I made for the show was Ration Fashion.
I looked at different fashion show videos on YouTube and realised they use cheesy disco/EDM song.
When creating this track I first started off by creating the drums.
I used a 909 kit and made a EDM drum pattern consisting of kick, snare and closed hi-hat. Then I made a bass pattern and a melody.
It all sounded well but something was missing so I added a raiser after the bass build up at the start.
As the deadline was getting closer I focused on making the intro.
The way I did this was by looking up jazz chord patterns and picked the one that sounded nice to the ear.
I then made a drum pattern using samples that I had dowloaded before and experimented making a drum pattern on the operator screen of Ableton.
