Science Media Museum TASK COLLAB

Recently I have been working on an idea for the National Science media Museum. We were told from our teachers to create a marketing plan for our idea and to create a pitch presentation showing our idea to the Science Media Team.In that pitch I had given a good insight on why I chose my idea , what it would include , statistics , facts and what impact it would have for the Science media Museum. I had analysed the National Science Media target audience report , then fitted my idea to the specific target audience. In my pitch I had discussed many ways on how to market and promote my idea. When I presented my idea the Science Media Museum team were taking notes. As they took these notes they also gave us some advice as well.

Marketing role experience:

I have been involved in marketing before in my past. With content marketing I have created a blog for the Yorkshire games festival for this project.I have created some social media content such as reels and TikTok posts to promote certain events in the past as-well. Such as singing events , nasheed events and even with the Yorkshire Games festival I have done a little promotional video with the VR theme.

I have been involved with Digital strategy development also.To identify goals of this project and identify trends and competitors. For example Whilst doing this project creating my idea The VR gaming , the virtual reality gaming I had to identify my target audience for my idea I used the Science Media Museum visitor report to do that.I found that my idea was targeting the Trend setters and the Youth in this instant.

I have been involved with Digital marketing. With social media one time I was advertising my event that i was holding , I did a poster for it and was promoting it across all social media platforms and even did a 1 min promo vid.Using social media such as Facebook , Instagram , and TikTok.

I have done abit of content creating as-well. Doing a podcast in the past about the city of culture in Bradford. I was promoting Bradford the city with different guests on my podcast discussing the development of Bradford and what changes have been made from the past and the city of culture bid 2025.

Delivering a project in a busy environment. I have got some experience in that as-well. Last year I had done a project for my course which was a show. This show was called the Bradford TV. In this show me and my friend were planning this in a busy environment in class and also took this project on the streets of Bradford. We asked people around Bradford town centre and city park different questions about the city of Bradford and what they would like to see new. We literally took this project out in the open in public.

What interests you in the role?

there are many things that interest me in the role one of them being creating digital content and promoting. This is what I like doing anyways its something i am very good at. This role I will be working with the cinema team as-well which interests me.When it comes to social media and marketing campaigns I am very quick. because I am young as-well I know how the social media field works and what needs to be done.Working with collaborators and the marketing team is what has attracted me to this role.

Project: Launching a New Product Campaign

Team Members:

  1. Project Manager

  4. Graphic Designer

  6. Data Analyst

Example Scenario:

The team comes together to kick off a new product campaign. The Project Manager outlines the project goals, target audience, and key performance indicators (KPIs). Each team member is assigned specific tasks based on their expertise:

At the end of the campaign, the team conducts a thorough analysis of the results, learning from both successes and challenges. The Project Manager leads a debriefing session, and the team collaborates on a comprehensive report summarizing the campaign’s effectiveness and lessons learned.

By working collaboratively, leveraging individual strengths, and maintaining open communication, the team successfully launches the new product campaign, achieving the desired marketing objectives and contributing to the overall success of the company.

What do you think are your greatest strengths and how could you bring them to this role?

My greatest strenghts.

-Working as a team.

-Communication and confidence.

-Promotion

I could bring all these strengths to the role by creating and developing marketing campaigns for exhibitions and events, creating content for the museum’s social media channels, and working with with colleagues across the museum to highlight and promote the museum, by helping the marketing team, by supporting media relations activity and assisting with press views, photocalls, and filming, Even more by supporting the cinema team in implementing aspects of the marketing strategy for picture Ville cinema, by evaluating campaign outcomes, by acting as a Brand Guardian ensuring that all communications both physical and digital are done on message.

Which communications channels do you think are going to be the most influential in the next 5 years?

The most influential channels will be social media. The reason for this is because everything is developing digitally. Everything is modernizing through social media. Social media is very powerful you can use it to contact people , make friends , promote your businesses and also to socialize in general and look at other public figures. Slowly and steadily social media is on the rise with the new technology coming into use as well. Social media enables to share diverse content quickly.

It enables instant communication, fosters global connections and allows for the rapid dissemination of information. Making it a powerful platform for shaping opinions and trends. Its adaptability , constant innovation and ability to engage diverse audiences make it likely to remain a prominent communication channel.

Can you tell us about a brand that you like and why you think it’s successful? Perhaps give an example of some digital content you particularly like from this brand.

I like the brand Nike. I like this brand because it is very versatile , they don’t just do clothes and trainers but they do other things as well. such as socks , boxers , caps , water bottles , gloves . bags and equipment. I have always loved Nike when I was a young child. Going to JD’s and Sports Direct every other week to buy clothes. Nike tracksuits , jumpers and T shirts. Nike is very fashionable and many people are aware of that. People from the whole globe know about Nike and how good quality clothes they sell.

Nike success can be attributed to several factors , including strong branding , innovative product design , effective marketing strategies , athlete endorsements and a global presence that taps into diverse markets. Their commitment to quality and performance has also contributed to building a loyal customer base over the years.

The digital content that I like from Nike is that they have a website and an app where you can shop online and even check what is new that they have brought out.

If you were creating a piece of digital content (for any social media channel of your choosing) how would you go about planning this? What do you need to consider?

I would plan this first by creating an initial idea.I would jot down different ideas on a piece of paper then choose which one to go with.I would ask my friends and family for any input or adviceI would.I would define my purpose and goals of my content.Set specific goals.I would have to know my audience. Understanding my target audience for example their interests.I would have to choose the right platform.Different platforms different audiences , where my target audience is most active.I would have to research trends.I would plan a schedule to post my content. I would determine the type of content i will be doing.I will write some engaging captions that will complement my content.I will also engage with my audience, by responding to comments and messages properly.

Feedback:

Summary of interview feedback Gave really impressive examples of team working and project management. Was confident throughout and came across in a really professional manner. Maybe be cautious about using time management as a weakness, if you are using it make you have suggestions for how you can be supported through that by colleagues and what measures could be put in place to ensure that time deadlines are met.

For example, is there a particular scheduling platform you prefer to use for digital content that would make it easier to manage deadlines, or a particular way you would prefer to receive information from colleagues?

It would be good to be more specific in the examples you give on question 4, perhaps selecting one particular social media trend and why you think this will be popular in the next 5 years, or perhaps a trend you think could happen even if it doesn’t exist yet.

Evaluation:

I did a lot of research when doing this project. I researched the target audience for my idea , how important it is, why this idea is so effective and what are the advantages and disadvantages of this idea. When doing my research I gathered loads of information and learned new things which I didn’t know. One of those things that I learned is that in 2022 the VR users grew up to 171 million users and that the Trendsetters audience segment was the most popular in visiting the Science Media museum and my idea is specifically targeted towards that group of people.

Whilst doing my research I learned how to scan for specific information, key information. I didn’t know what idea to put forward for the Science Media Museum until I researched what was already in the museum and what was not in the museum. Gaming in the museum was already in there but old fashioned gaming , retro gaming, I thought maybe add an upgrade to the museum which is virtual reality gaming. When doing my research I learnt how to understand and integrate resources gleaned through various means. I learned how to pitch an idea correctly with formal language and confidence. I learned which interview techniques were best for me to use.

When planning my interview, I looked at the SWOT analysis to help me with the questions that were going to be asked in the interview. Carl had put some questions that were going to be asked in the chat, so I had written my bullet points and answers to those questions already in a document. This gave me a confidence boost and helped me during the interview. Also having prepared 2 weeks in advance was beneficial. I would revise every other day the questions that were going to be asked.

Planning my interview was pretty easy for me, when it comes to planning I can confidently say I am very good. During my planning, I did face a challenge which was giving an example of a time when I had worked as a team. There are so many examples but I had to use one specific one which took time for me to choose one example.

Overall I think I did a really good job with this project. I learned new skills along the way such as creating a blog, This is one thing I had never done before. But by looking at other examples and step-by-step guides I managed to do it at the end of it. I learned how to pitch my idea formally. Pitching my idea was something I took a lot of time with I had to gather much information about Virtual reality gaming. I had to keep going back and forward on the visitors’ report to gather information. Delivering my pitch to the Science Media Museum team was nerve-racking for me at the start, but while I was talking about my idea I felt much more comfortable with it. They give really good feedback on my pitch. They said to me that I was confident with my pitch and It was a very good pitch in general.

If I were to do this project again I would get someone from the Gaming industry and interview them and ask them questions about virtual reality gaming. I would design some more short clips promoting the Yorkshire Games Festival. If I was to do my interview again , when asked about my weakness I would give an example of why its time management, how I can be supported through that by colleagues, and what measures could be put into place for deadlines to be met I would be more specific with my examples. This project taught me that I am capable of a lot of things and I am able to get things done if I put my mind to it, its also taught me how to work with a team professtionally.
