Task 1 Research into studio – based broadcast media production.

Director:

A film director manages the creative aspects of the production. They direct the making of a film by visualizing the script while guiding the actors and technical crew to capture the vision for the screen. They control the film’s dramatic and artistic aspects. A director Interprets scripts , Set the tone of film , works with department heads ,works with casting directors to find talent , directs actors and the camera, work with editors to assemble the film ,work with sound and music departments. The directors wouldn’t use as much equipment, a director would need his laptop , the script to look at , a timetable for when the shooting dates are and a pen or pencil to write or make changes to the script or to make things better. If there wasnt a director in the studio , the whole story line wouldnt have a flow , all the actors will be all over the place , people wouldnt know what to do , there wouldnt be a guide for the story. Furthermore there wouldnt be a structure and purpose to the story. So having a director in the studio is needed and valuable.

Producer:

A producer’s job involves planning, coordination and management around a movie’s script and writing, casting, directing, and editing as well as finances, marketing, release and distribution. A film producer can work for a production company or independently to oversee film production.A film producer can work for a production company or independently to oversee film production. A producer’s equipment will be his laptop , contact details such as phone numbers , the administration documents , hiring crew , getting the cast members , preparing the shoot days and then finally submitting the movie.

The producer develops the project from the initial idea, makes sure the script is finalised, arranges the financing and manages the production team that makes the film. The producer also coordinates the filmmaking process to ensure that everyone involved in the project is working on schedule and on budget.

If there was no film producer in the studio , there wouldn’t be a story idea , no one would know which writer to hire , they wouldn’t be able to decide on the scale and budget of the film and source financing from investors, studios and distributors, No one would know which location to approve with , the people inside the studio wouldn’t to know what people to hire for the production of the film.

Camera Operator

A camera operator have to assemble and set up the equipment , they have to plan and prepare and rehearsing scenes , they have to follow camera scripts , furthermore create a framing and capturing action , they even have to respond quickly to directions and finally help with lighting and technical staff.A camera operator is responsible for setting up and capturing the shot of a film, show, or other production. The camera operator handles the camera during the shoot and achieves the desired composition that tells the story in the best way possible. For this reason, they must know every specification of the camera.

Video Camera , a camera operator would need a video camera to capture different shots. They would also need lenses having a couple of lenses at your disposal allows you to capture very different shots depending on what you’re filming , the camera operator would also need sound , recording quality sound is just as important as capturing image it may even be more important. Because almost every project has at least one shot or instance in which you’ll need a static camera position, a tripod is an essential piece of gear.A gimbal serves a similar purpose to a tripod in that it stabilizes the camera. The difference is that you as the DP can fasten the gimbal to your own body, allowing the camera to move with you. They will also need lighting. On a studio or even an film set with a bit of a crew budget, there will be someone whose job is lights and lighting. Furthermore the camera operator would need reflectors. Reflectors use three different methods to manipulate natural light to serve whatever purpose you need: they diffuse (reduce and/or soften light), they fill (eliminate unwanted shadows), and they flag (block out the light that’s coming in to enhance shadows for effect).

If there was no camera operator in the studio there wouldnt be any footage of the film or show. There wouldnt be any story to tell and all of the shots wouldnt be captured. The camera operator plays a major roll in the studio without the camera man there is no movie. Its the camera man that sets the production of the film.
