This post is going to be a risk assessment on the Indianapolis concert and a post I did about the event will be linked here;

What are the hazards?
//Weather// The company holding the responsibility of the audience’s safety should’ve rescheduled the event if they knew prior to the event that the weather especially a ‘severe’ thunderstorm was going to occur during the event.
//The stage// The stage was quoted to be “temporary” meaning they didn’t give a proper risk assesment because this could’ve been prevented. The stage wasn’t strong enough to withstand the weather.
//The audience// Crowd control was a big issue here, with no security directing the crowd. And no sense of direction to safety, it created chaos as people tried to escape.
//Risk Assessment// With no risk assessment put in place, the people on the stage were disregarded, as they had no way to escape the crumbling stage, and having a risk Assesment could’ve provided the producers knowledge of the dangers in which they had disregarded.
Actions to take to minimise the risk;
//Weather// The company responsible for those on stage and the safety of the crowd those hosting the event should recognise when the weather could effect those involved, the wrather contributed to the stage collapsing therefore the producers should have realised this sooner and rescheduled with better weather, or had the concert indoors.
//The stage// Organisation; making sure that a temporary stage isn’t carelessly disregarded without a risk assesment. Construct a more stronger stage, having a temporary unsafe stage is reckless, and the wind shouldn’t have been able to knock over the stage to such severity.
//The Audience// Organising ways for the audiences to escape with safe alternatives, Instead of having audiences trying to exit in every direction, which is not safe, and creates chaos, they was also a lack of security, or exit signs that could’ve also prevented the crowd.
//Risk Assessment// Without having a Risk Assessment in place, it failed to prevent many warnings that the stage would collapse, along with the weather, and the construction of the stage, and the lack of consideration for the audience, Risk assessments provide information about the safety and security of the event, something that was either rushed, or overlooked.
Person responsible?
//The weather// Event staff.
//The Stage// The stage’s Construction team and the Event staff.
//The Audience// The Producers, Not ordering security, proper exits etc.
//Risk Assessment// Event staff and people involved with the responsibility.
