I’ve decided to research about Duncan Laurence since he is an artist that recently became popular after distributing his song on TikTok and YouTube, something that I am trying to do, and I think it would really benefit my project if I looked at artists for inspiration, and to learn new information.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Duncan Laurence is a Dutch Singer\/Songwriter who began his career in 2014, and became a semi-finalist in the voice of Holland. Duncan Laurence represented the Netherlands in the Eurovision Singing Contest 2019 with his song ‘Arcade’ and went on to win the competition, this stapled his rise to fame within the Music Industry. This gave the Netherlands its first Eurovision win since 1975. ‘Arcade’ became one of the best and one of the most successful winning entries on streaming platforms and International charts in recent History.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In 2020, ‘Arcade’ became viral on the social media platform called ‘TikTok’ resulting in the songs new sudden success, and a massive rise in streams on various platforms, In January 2021, ‘Arcade’ became the the most streamed Eurovision song ever on Spotify, Surpassing a record previously held by another artist back in 2019. On the 12th of February, ‘Arcade’ reached the UK Top 40, and 2 weeks later it peaked at number 29. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The reason why I wanted to research him was because not only am I performing his hit single ‘Arcade’ I am also trying to create music in a similar way, and seeing how someone successful was able to to break into the music Industry, inspires me to do this same. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
