Video Development and Evaluations

I will be showing all of my video development and evaluating all of my videos I was able to create throughout my project. And I will document about my projects development, and showing how I was able to create my videos. I will be reflecting on how I could improve these videos in the future.

Video number#1 Another Love Cover.

On Another Love Cover.

Evaluation:

When beginning the process of creating my videos the first thing I would focus on would be the music. I find it easier to work from home rather than at college. This is because recording in practice roomswould become difficult to do because any other people performing in practice rooms around me would interfere with the audio. The microphone I used would pick up the music from the other rooms close by. So instead I mostly recorded my music at home and used the practice rooms to practice my songs.

Postitive Evaluation:

I feel like I did well with editing this video all together, and I really like how I was able to control my voice in this cover. I liked that I explored with different concepts in terms of editing when I came to c reating my video. I also think personally that I was able to edit the music back in pretty well considering that I don’t normally know how to fix issues like that when they arise, so I handeled that really well. I was able to upload this video on time and I was able to keep up with my schedule, which is usually very hard for me to do, despite what happened. I think I did really well with editing, adding filters, transitions and overlays etc. I was able to edit all of my videos by myself and show lots of progession long the way, and I think I did a good job with editing all the clips together to tell a story.

What I could have done better:

One of the things that went wrong in these first three weeks was when I accidently cut out parts of the audio, thinking I was cutting out any background noise. But I was actually taking away parts of the kareoke. So I had to overlay the music and edit it in so I could still use it for my video. This was probably one of the hardest probleming solving moments I had to face throughout this project.

Here’s the video/content I used in my video:

:Video Clips Credit:

I could’ve done more to enhance the quality of my audio, I found out how to do just that when creating my final video. Creating these videos gives me the ability to really try out different ways and styles I can create music. I did honestly like this style, I think a real life aesthetic was a good idea, but further down the line I realised that it was hard to implement that style into all my videos. In terms of video quality, I wish I would’ve searched for higher quality videos. At times I feel like I could’ve made the quality a lot better and cleaner if I had just researched ways I could’ve edited and included content in my videos differently.

Here’s a video showcasing how I used the Kinemaster app to create my Another love music video.

Another Love video Development

I created this secondary video to showcase how I made my first video, and that most tools that were shown in this video were used throughout my project. It’s a quick easy way to display the features I utilised when creating my videos, and the steps I used to create them.

Video Number #2 Don’t you remember.

Don’t you remember Audio Cover.

Why I made this cover? / Why it has no video content. – And how it affected my development.

This cover is a special one, and was a hard one to work on. It’s more private than anything, and I do admit, I know how messy the audio is. This cover included nature in the background. To be specific, it was near the time where we were going to put my dad to rest. And the scenery in the background was his place of rest. So it had special symbolism, and was an active choice I implemented to allow those listening to form an emotional connection. One thing I will admit is that I did use auto tune – and I’m not sure how I feel about it now currently since writing this in the future, I don’t use this much auto tune now, But I think it’s good that I was able to explore different ways I could edit my covers. It was honestly very hard to edit this, or make a video for it, because of all the emotions that were linked with the video.

The audio overall could’ve been a lot better, but since this was more aimed towards family and friends, it was well received by my target audience and its planned to be played at his final goodbye. All of my cover recordings followed the same format, Import the music, and record myself singing along to the music on BandLab. Since I wasn’table to create the video, I uploaded this song to Spotify and promoted it on Facebook and Instagram.

1st Final Lyric music video #3

(There’s two videos, This is more promotional material.)

Traitor Animated Lyric video.

I put a lot of effort into researching different ways I could make my final video, and trying out different concepts I found online. The problem I had with this video is that I think the quality could’ve been a bit better, and I didn’t think it was the best content I could create. I wanted to have a consistent idea of using animation for my work, but an edited video doesn’t correspond with the theme.

Evaluation:

Positive Evaluation:

One of the first things I love about this video has to be how lovely it looks. Taking the time to edit this video really payed off, because I absolutley love the background and the editing. This was the cover I decided to use for my final video, and I feel it showed the most progress in terms of audio quality. It’s not perfect, but it’s one of the first videos where I don’t use such harsh auto tune, and I think it sounds a lot better than my previous covers. I was able to improve on how quickly and effectivley I was able to produce recordings in BandLab, and I was able to learn ways to improve my performances, which I am very prouf of. I think the video quality and resultion increased drastically in this video, and overall I think it’s just more pleasing to look at when the video quality is at its best.

Things I could improve on:

I think I could improve on the audio quality, although its the best I’ve been able to produce independently to-date, I still feel like I should’ve done a studio recording so I could have a more proffesional sound for my final video. I also wished I could’ve added more content into my videos sooner, as I feel like I could’ve added more here. I could’ve added promotional links and promoted my social media in the videos instead of just my descriptions, because I feel like the would’ve helped with promoting my content further across all platforms. But overall, I don;t haave much criticsms for this video, because I honestly think its pretty good.

Written Development:

When I created this video, I used Kinemaster pro to create the moving background and adding filters. I also edited in the lyrics and music from my recording on Bandlab, and edited it all together. One of the things I did was have an original still image pink background, and overlayed the moving video effects ontop of the pink background. But this made the quality worse in my eyes, But I still liked it enough to finish and post it online for promotional content. I posted this video in 4K quality, and I recommend watching it in the highest quality possible. In this video, it allows the viewer to focus on the words and my voice more, whereas in my final video, it gives the viewer an animated/ edited video to watch tell a story along with the music. I think creating two videos allowed me to explore more variety with my editing, and different ways I could edit videos. Overall when comparing this to my final video I think they both stand out in different ways, And I think uploading two different videos allowed me to target two different types of audiences, and create more promotional work for my channel. I classify this lyric video as more promotional material aswell as content, because this video was originally made to be my final video, but now acts as promotion for my main final video.

How I make overlays + Lyric Editing.

Even though it’s not all shown in this video, I still used a lot of the tools I showcased in my development video for my Another love video. This video mainly focused on showing how I was able to create the moving background, and how I was able to edit the lyrics in and adds the effects and animations, to show how I was able to create the video. The reason why these development videos are short is because showing these tools individually is all I really need to do, because after introducing what I use and how I used it, there’s no point repeating what I said, Because I use the same fonts, colours, filters, and overlays throughout the entire video.

Summary:

I think it’s great how much I was able to create in such a short time. And how I was able to explore so many different styles of music videos and add that into the development of my work. Overall I am very proud of the videos I was able to create, even though it did take me time to properly find out what content I wanted to add into my videos and how I wanted to promote them. Overall I think showing the development of each .video, talking about my inspirations, and how I adapted find solutions for problems really showed my improvement throughout these ten weeks. My final video definitely shows how I was able to really push myself to create the very best that I could independently.
