Introduction:-
In my third week of attending Bradford College I performed ‘Use Somebody’ by Kings of Leon and ‘Creep’ by Radiohead in front of my classmates. Once again ignited my anxiey however, people in the audience said that I looked like I was confident. With this I was able to conclude that I am getting better with my stage presence and my overall performance. This week has been great for me I really enjoyed it. I’ve picked up on the songs a lot more and throughout my performance I realised that I was able to perform the songs with a lot more confidence and I was able to keep in time with the music and sing my notes more clearly for others to hear.
Evalution:–
Our bands timing has significantly improved along with our overall confidence and performing the song for other people. My confidence has significantly improved and I think that I am slowly getting better at performing for other people but I think that I could control my notes a bit more I also think that the band could work on establishing more confidence on their specific parts instead of relying on other people’s queues. The drummer of the group drowns out the other instruments in the group, and the bass is often out of tune, these aren’t necessarily the musician’s fault, but, they are a consistent issue that has been pointed out over time that could be solved for the actual live performance. This week I’ve had less criticisms to address, because we as a group have improved alot, and I think we are slowly building better relationships with eachother and our music is improving.
Individual strengths and areas for improvement:-
For my improvements I think my vocals were a lot stronger in this performance because I had a lot more practice and I also practiced more at home like I said I was going to. The communications with the band have become a lot stronger because we have practiced together a lot more along with this I also have been able to improve on my stage presence and confidence and I think that slowly and over time I’ll be able to shake off more of my anxiety. In terms of areas for improvement I don’t think for now that I have much to talk about because when my performance was over I didn’t really receive any criticisms. But, critiquing myself I realise that I should have more confidence and be more comfortable upon a stage and should be more comfortable in front of the camera along with being able to control my notes a lot better and not panic about my timing.
Targets for next week/Practice: –
Targets for next week should be being able to finish the end of this term with a great performance which includes great singing, good timing, confidence in each other, and being able to play together as a team. I think that I should practice at home in order to achieve this and look at more live performances and analyse how they perform in order to entertain an audience. Overall, I’m very proud of my progression and how well I’ve already adapted these past few weeks and I’m really enjoying this course.
