I will be doing recordings of my progress each week with weekly evaluations and I will be following a ‘what went well’ and an ‘even better if’ scheme.
Doing things by myself is a lot harder than I initially thought, on the first day of putting my efforts into my practical work, I found I came not entirely prepared, I’m just glad that the school provided us with iPads, so I had something to record m practice session with so I could include it in this write-up. So I could’ve been a bit more prepared for my first session, but I managed to get some quality time in practicing my songs and getting myself familiar in front of a camera, and the first actually turned out to be incredibly fun, and I enjoyed it a lot.
My first session work will be linked here;
My second and final session, recorded on a Friday is when I uploaded my first video, now I’m not too over the moon about this video, this first video had several problems. I felt like I was very awkward, and I cared about how I looked in front of the camera WAY too much, I might adapt my project, and make the videos different to adapt to this problem, but I’ll talk and display the changes I’ll make next week. Not only that, but I also was working in a small room with very noisy neighbors, which often would mess up the audio, and cause me to start again. I felt like recording it portrait wasn’t exactly the ‘professional’ look the college wanted these videos to have, so I will be making the videos focus more on my collaborative partner’s media, my dad’s photography.
My YouTube cover will be linked here;
In order to solve my camera-shy problem, I am going to be adding my dad’s photography and editing into my videos to meet the Project 5 criteria and solve one of the first issues I have run into, this project is still going strong! My dad is my collaborative partner for this project! This will allow me to perform better on audio, since my appearance won’t be such an issue anymore!
Have a passed the first week’s goal? Yes, I have uploaded my first cover onto my YouTube and already have some posted media on my Instagram, that has been advertised on Facebook and linked in my YouTube description, it currently has 70 views in 2 days!
To sort the audio problem, I’m going to start looking for apps that support better audio for my device, so it’ll sound better on recording, and that’s one of my aims for next week, along with getting more media and creating more advertisements and content for my channel.
My dad’s media will be shown here;
My dad is really good at taking photos and is really creative, and some of his images are really amazing, that’s why I chose him to be my collaborative partner. These are some of my favorite pictures from his albums, and the ones that will be featured on my next song that will be posted next week on Friday, every upload will be scheduled on Friday.
So what went well this week;
I achieved my goal of uploading my first cover, and uploading some of my dad’s media to my Instagram, and I was able to create my first cover and edit it keeping time with the schedule and passing my targets. The audio sounds really clean and the song really was good choice, it’s very well made and the performance was one of my best, I was very brave to post it, and the Artwork Looks amazing. I got a lot of positive feedback, And the video was very well received by family and friends, I posted on facebook, on Instagram, TikTok and YouTube, so people could access my work on most platforms. I was very innovative with how I recorded, and it sounded very clean, and my tutors really enjoyed listening to it, I got a lot of positive feedback from them and I was told I shouldn’t be ashamed of my Artwork or my voice.
What I need to improve on;
Being more comfortable in front of the camera, and finding better ways to improve the audio quality, because during my performance, you could hear shuffling and breathing when I was preparing to sing, but I do get a lot better at hiding the noises throughout the project. I should take more photos and create more media to feature on my Instagram and advertise on other platforms. And have more confidence in my abilities. And get some Artwork for my YouTube channel. I was very stressed this first week, because I didn’t know how to record, and being in front of a camera was just throwing me off so much, and I just didn’t feel comfortable enough sing to my full potential. I was going to originally sing Runnin’ By Naughty Boy Feat Beyonce but then I just realised there was a song out there that I sung better, and I just felt a lot more comfortable being off camera, so that’s how I started collaborating with my dad and using his photography.
