Week 3 and week 4 went by pretty swiftly, We started to focus on our songs a lot more, and producing them, which was fairly quick, and I honestly could’ve done with a bit more time, my teammates were sometimes limiting since Ellis was working on Instagram and Edgars just couldn’t come up with anything on the piano so he took the role of producer. With Coronavirus hitting the UK yet again, we had to go in full lockdown and stay inside, which made producing songs on our own a lot harder. However, we were able to pull it off in the end.
This is what I was able to produce throughout week three and week four, week three running pretty smoothly, I was mysteriously given leadership of the group since I was the one that was doing the songwriting, singing, editing, and structuring of the song, Ellis still not being able to do full audio, left me to my own devices with Edgar’s piano not working probably. There was not a lot of communication within the group and we mainly spoke barely through Instagram and spoke the most during lessons. I feel like that hindered our progress a lot.
As for what we produced this week. we were able to get the first verse along with the second verse, but we have no sense of structure and the lyrics were hard to sing because it was crammed together in the time limit. The time limit was given because of the audio that Ellis was sending through Instagram. I tried to loop the audio originally, but every time I did there would be a dead skip in the audio, and the chords would change from the finish to the start, so it was hard to put lyrics in that would fit, not only that, it was hard to match up the pace.
And when I tried to add more lyrics to what I already had, it felt crammed and like I couldn’t fit anything there, so it was probably good if we just had an entirely new audio all together.
I was able to present in the call and perform it, so everything seemed to be going well, but because of the audio, the whole project was at a standstill for week 5. We tried to get Edgars to contribute since he couldn’t with piano, but it was hard trying to get him to contribute since he was ow given a producer role. Overall, I think we were able to produce fairly well for week 4, but I do think we should’ve sorted the audio problem in week 5, instead of using what he had, because it stifled our progress quite a lot.
