(P5) Week 7 Progress

In week 7 I focused on practicing my two songs I had picked for the showcase the week before, and I practiced it with Nic on the guitar. we sounded pretty good together, and this Tuesday we were recording our audio for the musical showcase, taking into consideration I learned this song in two weeks think I’ve done pretty well learning the material. The songs were hard to perform because of the timing, especially on Arcade. The rhythm changed several times in the song, nut became consistent towards the end. Sometimes it would be confusing and hard to navigate Arcade with its changing rhythm but we eventually got the hang of it. This week was heavily focused on getting those recordings done, And everyday I would be practicing with Nic in a practice room for about 30 minutes at a time. These were the two songs that I was practicing for the big showcase, And It was hard at first playing with an actual instrument, since I was so used to performing with karaoke. Playing with Nic on the guitar felt a lot more real, and it sounded a lot better than the karaoke. Nic had some trouble picking up the chords at first, but he’s a very fast learner and was really able to pull through, he learned the chords pretty quickly over the four days he had known the song. He seemed to really like the song and he said that the song really suited me along with my second choice which was Slower by Tate McRae. The second song was a lot more easier to learn than the first, and I felt like I grew more confident in performing the song the more I practiced live with Nic, because I got direct positive feedback and constructive criticisms too.

I decided to have a last minute collaboration with Tia Trueman, who was such a big help in the project, she really took time out to learn the songs over the weekend, and she was able to perform the songs very well in such a short span of time. This week, I didn’t focus on uploading another cover, since I was focused on deciding on my two songs, practicing with Tia was very fun, and we had planned to do our recordings outside if the weather was in our favour. We practiced for about a week before the showcase, and we were sounding really well together. At this time, I started being able to really project my voice, and was getting more confident on the two songs, and working with Tia made it a lot better. I focused on completing my written work and making sure I was up to date with recording my work on digital space.
