Audio:-1 0:00 LOTR Theme
The original audio for this scene portrays the actors moving as brave heroes, the trumpets creating this regal heroic atmosphere, and helps to establish the actors as doing an action that is good, or considered heroic. I would typically think to hear this audio when approaching or introducing someone of power, like a king, or a noble hero, or a theme of someone with high importance. This scene shifts our focus to think about the actions and how the music tells the audience that what the actors are portraying are characters with good, and dignified intentions. I think that the music complements the scene really well because it helps to establish the heroes and their actions in the movie.
Audio:-2 0:31 Footsteps
This audio makes this scene seem awkward and almost humorous and how well it does at failing, it twists the perception of the heroes because the atmosphere is a change from serious and brave, too awkward and weird. The footsteps fail to sync together as the audio is faster than the actor’s footsteps, plus, such footsteps would be made on a marble floor, possibly in an office, accompanied by other sound effects, realistically, the sand wouldn’t be able to make a sound like that. Do I think the audio fits? obviously not. For the reasons I listed above, the music doesn’t match the narrative, therefore twisting the perceptions of the audience.
Audio:-3 1:04 Finale (from Big Fish)
I could actually see this audio having promise with this scene, it’s not the best atmospheric music, but it does fit on its own, however, it doesn’t entirely suit the narrative or what the producer is trying to portray, and doesn’t suit the narrative. I think the reason why it works is that its music you’d expect to play when you see typical atmospheric scenes like that one, it wouldn’t necessarily work if it was a close-up shot of the actors running, but because it’s zoomed out so far that the viewer absorbs the atmosphere, it allows the music to actually work together. Do I think this audio fits? yes and no, both answers for different reasons I stated above.
Audio:- 4 1:35 Mission Impossible Theme
I don’t think that this audio fits this scene at all, the audio is filled with intense notes, and it gives the audience a sneaky, action feel whereas the movie scene is in a desolate atmosphere whilst the actors are climbing over cliffs to reach or discover a destination, it doesn’t fit very well together, plus, the actors are exactly dressed for action, they are seen what looks to be like brown rags, and it contrasts with the music’s motive. Overall, the audio does not work well with this scene.
Audio:-5 2:08 Benny Hill Theme (Yakety Sax)
This audio changes the perspective of the audience from magnificent heroes, to random men who happen to be chasing each other in a random desolate place with an unknown purpose. the audio tends to try to be humorous, but with the actors not keeping in time with the music and the atmosphere to displaying the same energy or vibe the music is it causes the scene and music to look and sound wrong. In my opinion, the music does not fit or work well together.
Audio :-6 2:41 Chariots of Fire Theme
I also think that this audio doesn’t work. The music tries to create a calm, slow atmosphere, the fact that the actors are running across mountains at full speed doesn’t fit the atmosphere or the narrative. I would typically feel like the audio would be played in a comedy, or if time was slowed, or if something was moving ridiculously slow, not in a heroic adventure scene. So overall, I don’t think this audio matches this scene.
