Project Evaluation

This project has been very different to all the others but to be honest, I feel like I’ve learnt a lot more about myself which in turn will help me with the ways in which I work and the thing’s I work harder on.

We started off by learning about our personality types, I learnt that I am a mediator. I learnt a lot of positive aspects of myself, such as being creative, passionate, loyal, generous, open-minded and thoughtful, which all I completely agree with. However, the negative aspects helped me realise which aspects of myself that could do with some work. For example, I learnt that I can be very emotionally driven, which doesn’t have to be a bad thing but it does mean that I should probably try and use that to my advantage, like writing a song. I learnt that I can be very self-critical, I am kind of a perfectionist. This helped me because no matter how I look at my work, I’ll also see that there’s something more that I need but if I keep focussing on what’s missing, I miss what I’ve already added. I’ve started to learn to try and settle for my best instead of constantly pushing to the point where I get frustrated with my work. Lastly, I learnt that I can be quite difficult to get to know so I’ve tried to become much more honest and open when I’m writing lyrics or allow my emotion to take over the piece I’m playing because if my words can’t say what I mean, then I want my playing and writing to be able to.

After the personality types quiz, we took a skills audit quiz. I learnt a lot from this one!

The main thing I learnt was that I have a lot left to learn. I still have to work on sight reading, playing by ear, playing in front of crowds and experimenting in different genres. I got a lot of advice on how to work on these like, playing in front of smaller crowds to begin with and then building up to the bigger ones. Music just takes practice but there’s no time so I just need to be aware of what I need to work on instead of stressing over the amount that there is.
