Artwork

*These pictures are unedited and taken on an iPhone with flash on*

To begin with, I wanted these photos to be unedited and really stripped down/basic because I felt like it reflects the composition better. The composition is quite stripped back and simplistic because it’s just on a regular piano and there’s nothing fancy in it, I’m just playing keys. Therefore, I felt like if the artwork was too fancy, it pushes expectations too high and like there’s going to be this extraordinary piece when it’s just an emotive piece.

The last photo is actually the chose artwork for the composition. I felt like this was the most effective artwork because, the lower down the piano is dark and reflects how the start of the composition is highlighting that you’re in darkness. Then, as we move up the piano, we’re in lightness, like how the composition moves up into lightness. I think my hand being there reflects how you have to kind of climb to the light, just like the hand climbs up the keys.
