This was performed in 2011 for The Best Reminiscent 10th Anniversary.
The performance as a whole is just over 3 minutes long but it feels so short because it’s so mesmerising. The whole song is so peaceful and relaxing and really allows you to escape reality as you just watch his fingers glide across the keys and hear how every note harmonises with each other. This song is so emotional and you can really feel the whole song throughout your body, it really leaves you with goose bumps.
Throughout the whole performance, Yiruma hits every right note and uses the pedal at every correct time so the fluency of the song was immaculate. He’s an incredibly confident performer as he was able to portray such strong emotions whilst staying in completely the right time and stopping for breathers in the song. The song really evoked such a powerful sense of emotions so the breathers were almost necessary because of how overwhelming the emotions can get. When people say that music can speak to you, this song is proof of that because there are no lyrics but the music in itself leaves you overwhelmed in all the best places.
Posture can be a real issue for most performers, especially seeming as there are so much going on already like playing in time, emotional projection and hitting all the right notes, yet Yiruma kept a good posture throughout his whole performance which then made him seem incredibly confident. You could see multiple times that Yiruma just got lost in the world of his music and it allowed us to do the same, he really soothed himself into peace yet emotion which projected onto the audience too.
The song is incredibly emotional in keys, however his face doesn’t really tell a story at all for the song. However, the just enticed us to focus on the piano and feel our own emotions instead of him enforcing one upon us. Overall, the performance is incredibly rememberable, even though he doesn’t move or have any stage presence really, because the piano evoked more emotion that you even knew existed or than any other lyrics ever could.
