Temporal Distortion : Evaluation

The process of composing this was sort of a difficult process because I started out by making the stings play chords they couldn’t play so I had to fix that and make it sound ok with the piano. However, as difficult as it was, I think I really embodied the video and helped tell a story. I think the build up and harmonises with strings and piano really helped form a solid melody that carried across the whole composition.

For section A, I half agree with what Faith said in the peer feedback, with it repeating a lot. I think I could have thought of something else instead of making it repeat round but I think this melody with the string build up was effective in taking you on a journey through the time-lapse video. If I could do it again, I wouldn’t have made section A go over twice because it did sound a little repetitive, I would have changed it slightly or added more of a build up and a fade out.

For section B, there was a lot of different melodic tones which really took the story into a different turn. The vast diversity in the different melodies and tones really allowed each instrument to shine and each of them got an opportunity to lead, which separated it a lot from section A.

Overall, I think I succeeded in telling the story and with the contrast from section A to B really adds a twist into the story. If I were to do this project again, I maybe wouldn’t have done A/A then B because it did give it a little bit of a repetitive feel and instead, I’d have took the A into a different direction, maybe build it up more, before going into section B so it didn’t sound like it didn’t 100% fit in.
