1960’s Critical Listening

The Beatles first banded from John asking Paul to join his band, which he was originally in a band called “Quarrymen” and then Paul suggested his friend George, even though he was rejected at first for being too young, and then Ringo joined years later after they played a few songs together and got along really well. The Beatles were then signed to EMI in 1962.

John Lennon plays guitar, piano and vocals. Paul McCartney played hofrer bass, keys and vocals. George Harrison played rhythmic guitar and vocals. Ringo played drums and a little bit of vocals.

“I wanna hold your hand” was wrote by John Lennon and Paul McCartney themselves. It was written in the key of G with a tempo of approximately 131 bpm and a time signature of 4/4. The song is wrote in the genre of rock and it’s at quite a fast pace. It’s structured verse, chorus, verse, bridge, verse and then chorus so it’s an incredibly catchy song. In this song, John Lennon was the lead vocalist, on rhythmic guitar and did the handclaps, Paul McCartney did vocals, bass guitar and claps, George Harrison did lead guitar and handclaps and Ringo did the drumming.

“Tomorrow Never Knows” was wrote by The Beatles too! This was written in the key of C mixolydian, with a tempo of 125bpm and a time signature of 4/4. It was in the genre of Art and had a very confusing structure of verse, chorus, verse, verse, chorus and bridge, honestly it just had a bit of a free flow to it when it comes down to structure. Ringo played the beat with drums which Paul closely followed along to on his bass.
