Play listing:
Spotify for Artists allow you to pitch a song for play listing by going to their website on desktop, going to the music tab, going to upcoming and then select pitch a song. Afterwards, you fill out the questionnaire. If the track is selected, you’ll get an email saying so. This doesn’t guarantee play listing but it helps it. Play lists are the fastest way to reach your audience. Recommended time to do this is 30 days in advance. You can only push 1 song to be play listed.
Spotify Account:
Upload 3-5 high res photos.
Write an interesting bio.
Link all of my social medias.
Release Day:
Be most active and promoting as much as possible on this day. Message everyone and share it everywhere. Use hashtags and share on stories.
Weekly Promotion:
I’ve researched a little using my favourite artists as examples. Lauren Jauregui posted on Instagram with a simple caption of “it’s time”. It was a video of smokey visuals that had a release date and the song in the background. I like this idea as it still gives a little mystery element which you can reveal later on.
Demi Lovato added snippets of their most recent song on their Instagram stories and later posted a photo captioned “A funeral for my pop music”. I’m noticing that the element of mystery is key and posting on Instagram is popular.
Promotional Performance:
Before the album release of “Familia” Camila did a live performance of each song on TikTok. This went really well for her and her albums doing great so I thought a great way to promote is to perform your best piece and then people will listen to the rest of your EP if they like your performance.
Different Social Platforms:
For each form of social media, there is like a different way of promoting. A lot of Facebook, Instagram and Twitter are just the same but for Twitter you have use hashtags to boost your posts. Instagram and Facebook is pretty much just about your consistency in posting, the more you post, the more likely you are to end up on people’s feed. However, Instagram and Facebook are harder because people already have to follow you to see your post or see their friends repost your post on their story so they can directly go to your page and interact with you. TikTok is the easiest to use for promotion because you play into the algorithm and then it pushes your content to the right people. You can do this by using hashtags that are popular and that people who you want to attract will like, for example Small Artist or FYP are really good ones to boost your videos.
