In silence, it is very thought provoking. It appears very magical and is very mesmerising. The way the sky and stars form incredibly beautiful and leaves you in awe but also with a sense of freedom and adventure, you can almost imagine yourself sat outside and just watching this all happen. The sky is so peaceful that you’re almost fascinated by how ‘out of this world’ it looks.
Without any sound, your emotions are free to roam and feel whatever they like. This shows how affective music is in films because with music, your emotions are almost guided but then without it, you can absorb any emotions that the video reflects.
With music, the whole perception of the video changes from being quite optimistic to being quite negative. Beth’s theme tune adds a more melancholy feel to it and it almost tells a story. From my point of view, it feels like we’re reflecting on the worlds beauty, maybe as it’s the last day of earth, and it gives a sense like somethings been lost. As the texture builds up, it’s almost like a boost of optimism as if we could maybe regain what we have lost or get the worlds beauty back. As it decrescendos and dissolves back into the simple piano solo like the start, it’s like a time to sit and reflect on what emotions we have just gone through.
This proves that music guides your emotions because with a video, you’re kind of enticed to just sit in the thoughts and feelings you already have, where as when music is involved, it inflicts emotions and guides the mood into either an optimistic or pessimistic atmosphere.
