Learning the Montuno. The tempo was very slow so that I could get a feel and memorise it so it needed to be sped up a lot.

The Montuno sped up but it sways a little out of time so I needed to play to a metronome to keep in time.

Take 1

This is the Montuno but the timing is very messy and it sounds very rushed. However, there’s a clear and basic structure down to follow. How well does the piano solo style fit together with the Montuno though?

Take 2

Percussion is down, solid basis. The timing of the steel drum is a little out anti feels very rushed so either play across double bars or rewrite and take some notes out. Does the piano actually add anything or is it taking away the effect of the steel drums?

Reggaeton style. I chose to change my style to Reggaeton because I listen to it the most so I know key sounds and what is effective so it’s easier for me to compose in.

Percussion fits the genre. However, this is basically just the beat and needs to be built off, more instruments. The timing is perfect though.

The brass sounds very weird, is it too high? How will it fit with the beat style? It doesn’t sound very Latin and takes away that kind of vibe that the beat created.

Logic brass is not very good.
