Final Performance

We started with a little run through first, so we got to run through “Somebody Told Me” before we actually started filming. This gave us a sense of relaxation in a way because it’s like we got to warm up before diving straight into the performance. Everything was pretty much already set up for us when we got there so the only other thing we had to do was a sound check. Sound check did take a little longer than I kind of expected because the drum mics weren’t picking up sound as well as they should have been so they had to fix that. The stage also look very realistic, in a way, because the DI box, where everything is connected to, was hidden and out of site for the cameras so you could only see the trail of wires instead of a messy box where everything was connected.

After sound check and our warm up, we started our set with “Somebody Told Me”. We didn’t actually speak to the audience and introduce ourselves like we had rehearsed so we just ended up jumping straight into the song. Everything was good and everyone played well but I couldn’t really hear myself as much so I more played by sight than ear. Other than that, we ran through and everyone carried on and played incredibly well because everyone was on time and nobody missed anything or slipped up, from what I heard.

We then moved onto our next song, “Clocks”, which actually had to be taken twice. The first time, there was a lot of issue with sound and it just sounded very distorted but the second time, was almost perfect. However, again, I couldn’t really hear myself so when it was just keys it sounded really quite until everyone else started and then you couldn’t really hear keys at all. Everyone stuck to the timings and tempo though and carried on through the song so in the end, we got a really clean take. Also, on our second take, we did actually say “Hello, we’re daytrip” so we did talk to the crowd a little bit.

Our third song was “Animal – Sir Chloe” which went incredibly well! Everyone was on time and played their parts without missing a single note and when it was just the instrumental parts, they sounded extremely clean and I’d say it was one of our best songs in the set. However, we still didn’t say anything else to the audience, we kind of just jumped into the song, which was still affective because we carried it out really well but I think the audience may have appreciated a little more recognition.

Last but not least, we performed “Moving To New York – The Wombats”, which I personally feel like it was a very good idea to included last because it’s very lively so it’s like we leave with a “bang”. This was almost perfect, we had a lot of clean breaks in the song and the instrumental bit went very smooth. The whole song was pulled off amazingly but the stage still looked very still.

Overall, we all did really well by sticking to timings and not missing a note but it would have been nicer to possibly hear myself a little more so I didn’t have to play by eye as much and if we introduced the songs, or at the very least spoke to the audience a little more. However, we all had great energy for the songs themselves and with the music alone, I’d say we had a very successful performace.

Our band starts at approximately 11:49-22:35
