This performance was at the start of 2020, before all of the Corona-Virus stuff, so she got to actually perform with a live band.
Lauren and the band members, can all be seen in quite a plain yet aesthetic grey box. This gave the whole performance a more of “focus on the music” kind of feel, because there wasn’t much to look at. Everyone seems to be wearing quite simplistic clothing, so there’s nothing too flashy that takes the attention away from the music. However, Lauren does appear to be the only one dressed up a little more as she’s in a suit instead of everyday type clothes, this kind of highlights her as the lead performer.
This song is Spanglish but predominantly Spanish so this target audience would have kind of aimed solely at Spanish speakers or her fans. This means that she wouldn’t really have to do much to give a wow performance, except have good Spanish, because they’re already her fans or are grateful for her producing more Spanish music for them instead of just English.
This is an acoustic take on the song “Lento” so you could really hear her isolated vocals, which gave the song a very soft and relaxing feel to it. Overall, this performance was incredible because she didn’t give too much so that you could focus on her song and her lyrics. She also kind of pulled a lot of Spanish and English people together because she chose to incorporate both languages so there was a wider range who could understand what she was singing about, and maybe if they didn’t understand then it may have enticed them to learn a new language, it did with me.
