Song Analysis

Bob Dylan thinks of himself as a storyteller and his songs as being stories. This process starts off with the guitar, which is the background, then he came up with the lyrics. He got inspiration for his lyrics from folk music, he would constantly listen to folk music for a couple of years to get inspiration for his lyrics. Many of his songs had political elements, including songs such as Blowin’ in the Wind and Times Are a Changin, became civil rights anthems. His lyrics also had a range of social, philosophical and literary influences. He started off as a folk artist but turned into a blues, rock and pop artist. He also covered many more genres over the course of his long career.
