Introduction

That is my grade and feedback from project 1. I am happy with the grade that I got as I got “good” in everything. Looking back on this project I could’ve done extra work, and more detailed work to get an even better grade. With the practical skills, I could’ve worked harder to fit more difficult parts into the songs I did. All in all I am happy with my project 1.

To improve I am going to make my personal aims much more detailed and more personal and give an even better understanding of the subject through my context and research. I also need to reference my work either by putting links or by using Harvard referencing. I also need to use more sources in my work so I get a better understanding and different views on my work. In my practical skills, I need to improve in my counting in, timing, playing more difficult parts and using techniques. As this project isn’t playing any instruments, a lot of these I can’t improve in this project. However when using Logic and Sibelius, I will make sure all the parts are in time and try to aim for more than just basic pars, especially if drums are involved. I need to evaluate consistently and to the same level of detail throughout my project.

Project 2 is Composing and Arranging, which is a very different part of the music industry than what live performance is. The purpose and aim of this project is to get comfortable with the software we are going to use, which is Sibelius and Logic. Sibelius is a music notation software, so instead of having to write everything down on manuscript, you can write it in Sibelius. It is an easier and more effective way of writing music. Logic is a digital audio workstation. It is a digital way of creating music and give people many new and creative ways of making music with many different sounds. Another purpose of this project is to know the basics of composition and explore a variety of approaches and techniques for composing and arranging.

My targets for this project are to get used to and get comfortable with Sibelius and Logic or any other music software so that I will be able to use these skills for later in life. Another target I have is to gain a good level of knowledge on music theory and music notation. I have no prior knowledge of any of this, apart from drum notation, and I would like to learn a lot about these as it will help me in later life.
