This was the first week of our final project, and it was quite a slow week. Our plan was to work on the cover song, however we only had 2 sessions to work on the practical side of the project, as the first session was for context and research. Also our guitarist, Ben, wasn’t at the sessions, and the song is very guitar based. So we decided to work on an orignal that Tom and Millie wrote.
This is the first draft of the original that we are working on. The structure of the song is intro, verse, chorus, verse chorus. However we plan to add more and refine what we have. The drum beat I have chosen for the verse is good, however I sometimes play notes a bit early or late. So I can improve this by just playing it more and getting it perfect. Also for the verses, I think the first verse is a really solid verse, it is short however that means that it doesn’t drag on. The lyrics, melody, and piano harmony and melody fits well together and sounds good. However the second verse isn’t as solid, as the lyrics are good, the drum beat is the same. However the melody for the vocals and the piano isn’t as good, as the melody hssn’t been fully figured out. The piano is the same as the last verse, however it hasn’t been played as well. However with work on the melody, and playing it more, this verse should come together. The chorus could also do with some work. It has a good idea, however it doesn’t fully fit together. The drum beat is too messy and too much. Also the end of the chorus, the piano’s melody isn’t the best, and it needs some work. However it is a good start./
What we need to do for next time is add a bridge, and finish the structure of the song. As well as improving and refining what we have.
