This week we filmed the video to accompany our songs for the showcase. As we only recorded 2 of our 3 songs, we only had to do a video for them 2. Which were “Last Days of our Lives” and “Let go.” There weren’t any issues with it like there was with recording, as everyone was present and there weren’t any technical issues.
Strengths – It went very well, as we didn’t have to do any more takes than needed, and all the takes went well. As we had to act like we were playing my instruments, we all properly played the songs like we would normally. However we turned the amps and speakers off so there was no sound coming from the mics or the instruments. However as I was playing on an acoustic drum kit, I could still be heard by everyone. That means that I had to make sure I was playing right and I was in time. Even more so than if there was no sound coming out of the drum kit, as if I messed up it could make everyone else mess up. I played all the songs right and kept in time, which means everyone else had a better chance as well.
Weaknesses – An issue is that during the filming Tom was very active during the video and was jumping about. Whereas Millie wasn’t doing that, so in the video it could look a little bit strange. Also Abi was sort of active however Ben and I weren’t. If we do this again, we should co-ordinate what we are doing better so we are all doing a similar kind of thing. Another issue was that Ben didn’t do the recording, so the parts that are in the recording aren’t ones that he played. They are a little bit different timing wise, so this means that for the filming Ben didn’t know the exact parts. He was getting worried that people would notice the slight difference from what he was playing to the recording. However the difference is something that people won’t notice unless they watch it and analyse it.
All in all, this went well as only the required amount of takes were needed and nothing went wrong. Everyone played well, and in time and I’m sure the videos will turn out great.
