This piece is Beth’s Theme from the TV show Broadchurch. The composer Olafur Amalds has written this piece for a TV show, and specifically for a character in it called Beth. Beth is the mother of the character that died at the start of the show, and that is the centrepiece of the show. This theme is meant to show the emotions and feelings of the character. It shows the sadness in her character. The purpose of the composition is to make you feel the emotions of the character, it portrays the emotions in musical form. It is trying to express how she is feeling, so sadness, grief and all those kinds of emotions.
I usually don’t listen to music like this so I enjoyed it, I think it sounds very good. The composition is a very melancholy piece, so it made me feel like that. As it is a character theme, it makes you feel like what the characters feeling, which is grief, and sadness, and that’s exactly how I felt.
The composition started with just a piano, which is very quiet. Then when piano gets louder, there is a cello. Then it all builds up, then after a few bars of being its loudest, it starts to build down and going quieter, the cello cuts out after a few bars of it getting quieter, then it is just the piano again. It starts the same as it ends, which could represent the character’s feelings, as they don’t change from grief. The piece is quite repetitive, as the piano runs through the whole song however there are a few changes to the chords during the song. Because the dynamics change and other instruments come in, it doesn’t sound repetitive. The song is in minor key and the time signature is 3/4 and it is in 160 bpm. The cello is quite simple, however the piano isn’t and that is quite memorable.
This piece is Mile High by James Blake. James Blake is an English singer songwriter and record producer. He is best known for his production and his song writing. I enjoyed this piece because it is a very relaxed song and you can just sit back and listen to it. The rhymes are also very simple and nothing too complicated which helps with the relaxing mood of the song. This isn’t what I usually listen to however I would choose to listen to it again. The composition made me feel chilled out, it made me want to sit back and relax. It made me feel like that because the beat isn’t in your face or loud, and the singing is quite soft for this type of song.
This song is quite a vulnerable song for this type of song, as songs of this genre aren’t normally about love. I think James Blake is trying to express that he is just really in love. This is a very sweet song and the relaxing beat and relaxing singing fit with the lyrics. The purpose of this is just to be a good song.
An instrument that is very prominent in this song is the electronic drums, the bass drum, hi hat and snare drum is very prominent in this song. These kind of electronic drums are used in many trap songs like these, and in this case they aren’t anything ground-breaking, but they do their job. There are no more instruments in it, it is just production elements. The texture of the piece is quite simple. As the drums are in during all the choruses and verses, then during the post choruses they drop out, and during he refrains they drop in and out. e. The songs dynamics are usually the same throughout most of the song, however during the verses and choruses it is the loudest, and during refrains and post chorus it is the quietest. Even with these dynamic changes, the difference isn’t much it is just a slight difference. This song’s structure is quite good as it changes a lot. The first verse is sung by Travis Scott, and so is every chorus, and the post chorus is sang by James Blake. The second verse is also sang by Travis Scott, the refrains are sang by both of them, then the third and fourth verse are sang by James Blake. This is how the structure goes, verse, chorus, post chorus, verse, refrain, verse, chorus, post chorus, verse, refrain. As you can see it changes a lot and is very different, which makes the song interesting. The song is in 4/4 and is at around 118 bpm.
