Miles Davis is a jazz musician trumpeter, bandleader and a composer. He died in 1991 and was born in 1926, he is among the most influential and acclaimed figures in the history of jazz and 20th century music. He made albums and ones called “kind of blue”. The instrument he played was the trumpet.

The artist who was featured on “kind of blues” was John Coltrane, he as the tenor saxophonist ,alto saxophonist Julian Adderley, he was also alto saxophonist, Bill Evans  and Wynton Kelly, was the pianists and there was  Paul Chambers as the bassist , the drummer was Jimmy Cobb and, of course, trumpeter was Miles Davis. This album came out in 17th of august 1959 and what made it different was because it is based entirely on modality, diverging from Davis’s earlier hard bop style of jazz with its complex chord progression and improvisation. The entire album was a series of modal sketches, with each performer given a set of scales that encompassed the parameters of their improvisation and style.

RANDOM FACTS ABOUT THE 50`S!

Racial tensions were being strained with the beginning of the civil rights movement and music reflected many of those tensions.

A lot of people believe that during the fifties many of the white artists stole music from African-Americans and capitalized on it for their own benefit in a way that the original artists could not. Others believe that the popularization of R&B and Rock ‘n’ Roll only helped to bridge the gap between blacks and whites.

The most significant change in music production is that artists no longer require a studio to record. Music would be recorded in a live performance while producers simultaneously mixed the music. As technology rapidly evolved in the 50`s and 60`s, there was a shift from live-mixing to multi track recording.
