The song is apart of the electronic music and rap genre due to its heavy use of synthetics. I thought the echo audio was too over used which was unfortunate as I would have liked it.

HOW DID IT MAKE ME FEEL- The James Blake vocals make the song have a depressing vocal which takes away energy, making the listener feel sad. The rap verse fills the song with excitement but James Blake harmonic vocals bring deeper sad emotion to the song.

PURPOSE- The purpose of the song is to tell a love story that provokes emotion, however its rappers such as Travis Scott’s raps also fit an audience from the younger generation, making the song suitable for multiple audiences.

Dynamics- Dynamics Lower in vocals when James Blake sings,

Rhythm- time signature is 4/4, slow paced,

Structure- Intro (James) , Verse (Travis), chorus (Travis), post- chorus (James) , verse (Travis), Verse ( Travis and James), Verse (James), Chorus (Travis), Post-chorus ( James), Verse (James)

Melody- Vocal, Low pitch mostly, Easy to remember

Instruments- Bass, Vocals, Feedback (wormhole effect), synths, drums ( inconsistent)

Texture- When James Blake sings “By yourself” texture thin, the overall texture is medium (not many instruments)

Harmony- James Blake provides vocal harmony to the song, the echo of his voice allows him to play chords with his voice.

BACKGROUND OF COMPOSITION- Composed in 2019 by James Blake the song was huge because of its trending featuring artists such as Travis Scott.
