Linear:

Wall-E has a linear storyline, it follows the main Protagonist Wall-E throughout his adventure, it follows him strictly, most movies are Linear storylines as they are the easiest for the audience to understand, Wall-E was directed by Andrew Stanton.

Non-Linear:

Mr Robot has a non-linear storyline, as the main protagonist struggles to recall events and when they happened, it shows the audience a timeline of events that is very skewed due to the main protagonists troubles remembering things, Mr Robot was directed by Sam Esmail.

Open:

Inception has an open ending, as at the end of the ending it shows something that never finishes, so the audience is unaware as to if the reality they are seeing is the real one in the end, making the ending unknown and the audience wondering, Inception was directed by Christopher Nolan.

Closed:

Nightmare Before Christmas has a closed ending, as it is established that Jack successfully helped save Christmas for Santa Claus, and that he returned home and greeted his people once more, it ends with a cheerful song and Santa thanking Jack, showing the audience that the conclusion has been reached, Nightmare Before Christmas was directed by Henry Selick.

Multi Strand:

Pulp fiction has 3 separate storylines playing out at similar times, of which all intertwine at some point or another, this is an excellent example of a Multi Strand narrative, Cultivating in the ending which was shown to be chronologically ahead of everything, Pulp Fiction was directed by Quentin Tarantino.

Unrestricted:

Invincible is a great example of a unrestricted storyline, where the audience sees the antagonist Omni-Man slaughter the Guardians, but nobody else knows within the show, which is a great example of restricting info from the characters, the show slowly unravels until the final reveal lets all the characters know he killed them, Invincible was directed by Ericson Core.

Restricted:

Red Dot is an example of a restricted Movie as the 2 main protagonists have a dark secret of which the audience doesn’t know about, the movie drops hints throughout the entire thing until the climax which reveals their dark history, this helps build tension and feelings for the characters, whilst also building anticipation for what it could be, Red Dot was directed by Alain Darborg.

INVINCIBLE:

The Hero: Invincible, invincible is the hero as he is the main protagonist who goes throughout his adventures being heroic and brave.

The Villain: Omni-Man, Omni-Man is the villain as he murders the heros and covers it up, it shows him to be part of an overarking empire who want to conquer earth.

The Donor: Omni-Man is the Donor as he helps Invincible get used to his powers, training him to become a hero before he is yet able to be, whilst also giving him his powers due to him being a Viltrumite.

The Dispatcher: Omni-Man is the dispatcher as he tells Invincible about him murdering the Guardians and everything that happened, propelling him into the further seasons plots.
