NSMM – Creating The Video Pitch

For the next part of my NSMM project, I’m starting the development of my Video Pitch, and I’m looking at video templates of presentations to give an idea of what it will look like.

What will the video presentation be about ?

My presentation is all about promoting the technology that is in Science & Media Museum to BBC Click and I will discuss three topics which are Turn It Up, Yorkshire Games Festival and Cinerama & Cinema Technology.

The reason why I chose BBC Click to send my Video Pitch is because the programme is the best way to promote the Science & Media Museum when it reopens in Summer 2024.

Presentation Idea

For my video pitch I have made a small presentation of the topics that I will talk about for the Museum to BBC Click, this is so that they would be able to understand what topics that I will present with my video pitch to BBC Click

Why I decided to make a presentation

The reason I feel a presentation would go alongside my video pitch is because when I record it I want to the Executive Producer of BBC Click who will be watching my pitch to understand the subjects that I will be pitching to BBC Click.

Presentation – here is the presentation I will be using for my video pitch to BBC Click. – Old Version this was a template of the presentation I had made to give me an idea on what would be talked about for the presentation.

Updated Presentation – I have decided to change the presentation to reflect what will be discussed in the video pitch of the topics the museum wants me to talk about to BBC Click.

I have ultimately decided to keep everything short as I feel the need for a long presentation would drag everything for longer, so that is the reason why it is short.

How I will implement my own pitch & style for the presentation

For the video presentation that I will be working on with the national science and media museum I will want to implement some creative ways to deliver my pitch I would like to create a short 5-10 slide presentation of what the media museum would like me to discuss in the video pitch and why the pitch will be aimed at BBC Click.

This is so that the senior producer of the programme who will watch my video pitch can understand what topics that I will be talking about with a presentation, rather than it just being me just talking at camera with nothing to show for it.

For the style, I want the style of my pitch to be very enthusiastic as much as possible and want to give the senior producer of BBC Click the impression to show the museum and its technology must be covered on the programme by giving my video pitch a positive and enthusiastic vibe.

I think by implementing my own style and vibe it will give the senior producer something to be excited for from start and finish and hopefully by doing this the museum and maybe myself an appearance on BBC Click.

I will have to plan how I can do this, so I can give out a good presentation and make it so that when the BBC watches the video presentation they will be impressed and might promote the Science & Media Museum when it reopens.

How it will be presented

For the video pitch it will present in a short and sweet way the presentation will just be in going into detail about every topic that the museum wants me to pitch to BBC Click and the presentation is there so that the executive producer can understand what the topics are when I move on to it.

The reason it will be presented in a short way is so that I don’t take up too much of the producer’s time by making a 20-30 minute presentation, instead it will just be a quick 5-10 minute video pitch which will be enough time to get my point across to BBC Click.

Change Of Plans

So I have decided to change the way it will be presented instead I will record the introduction & conclusion on video but will do a voice-over on the presentation this will make it cleaner and more understanding and this is the best way in my opinion to do the video pitch.

Video Links

For the presentation, I will be recording the Introduction & Outro with my face with an image of Science & Media Museum in the Background. I was originally going to record the whole thing with my face.

But instead I decided to show the presentation that I made and talk about the topics through the presentation rather than talking directly in front of a camera as it would be easier for me to read the script so that is why I will just record the intro and outro with my face with the rest being talked about on a presentation.

Recording Dates

With everything practically done these are the recording dates I have set out for when the video pitch can be recorded and later edited, Each available date for recording will be in the afternoon.

December 13th & 14th – The only dates I record it in December

January 3-5th – the first week back at college

January 17-18th – Katie will be available on those dates and I aim to have a recording date of January 18th

Recordings

I am now recording the video pitch and includes video test , audio recordings and the final result which will be sent to BBC Click

NSMM BBC Click Video Presentation – Test 1

This is the first test of what I’m doing for my presentation unfortunately it’s not at all good and fumbled all of my lines, so this is not the only thing interesting is the background but as mentioned this is just the first attempt and will use the next attempts to improve on my lines for the presentation.

This is the second test video that i have recorded for the video pitch luckily I didn’t stumble my lines just like the first test although there were moments I struggled to get some words out but i was able to re-record to make it just right.

Another issue that i had was that the camera kept coming out of focus due to the camera being of lower quality and wouldn’t normally be used for video as its used mainly for video however since this was a video test i wasn’t too bothered about it.

However I am actually happy with how this turned out as it was much better than the first test due to the fact i had made my script bigger and easier to understand this is a massive improvement from the first test and hope to learn more from it.

This the third and final version -I decided to make it the final version as i feel like this is the best that i will get out of the video pitch for the intro and outro scenes there were a couple of struggles but are hardly noticeable so i use this as the final version but i might do another take before the pitch is sent to BBC Click.

Script update

For the video segments of my pitch to BBC Click due to me struggling to read the script I decided to make it bigger by reworking the introduction and conclusion as that will be the only parts shown in video. this was used for the second test.

Here is an updated version of the script as it was done on word document and much organized & neater than the original these will be used for further test and the final product and will be easier for me to understand.

Change Of Plan

The Original Plan was to record the Introduction & Conclusion with my face and voice record the topics however due to Continuous Script re-writes I have decided to voice record the whole thing Instead and Include more information for the video pitch so BBC Click can understand the point I am trying to make for the national science and media museum so that is why i’ve changed the whole plan.

Topic Video Links

These video links except for Turn It Up will be used in the video pitch to link into each subject to give BBC Click an idea and understanding of what I am talking about in the video pitch.

Audio Recordings

Below is the audio that I will be using for the video pitch each segment was recorded individually and i’m quite happy with the audio as I speak loud and clearly and I will be using this audio for the video pitch.

But will likely stretch it out a bit to make the pitch longer with the video links.

Meeting With Katie

Thursday 19th Janurary 2024

I went for a meeting today for the science and media museum project to meet my advisor Katie and she told me more information about the Yorkshire Games Festival and Pictureville and she is happy with the recording that I have made about the project and told me the video pitch will be sent around February time.

The meeting was good and we plan to meet again on the day the video pitch is sent to BBC Click.

Video Editing

I have started the video editing for the video pitch I have managed to source images from google and the national science & media museum and have begun implementing them within the video.

Here is a screenshot of the final result of video editing I had to make a few tweaks before I had to export the video to media encoder and the video is now ready to be sent to the media museum for them to send it to BBC Click.
