When checking Raquel’s Instagram account I noticed that they draw a lot of fantasy characters mainly witches. This inspired me to draw within the fantasy theme, I liked the fairy she posted on her instagram and think that this would fit nicely into my theme. I like the mysterious and child like element of fantasies. The witches that Raquel draw could blend into normal life I like the idea that these thing could exist and we are just oblivious to them. Some people believe that because of children one mind that they are able to see these creatures, that they are real and we just lose faith. There are a lot of films that revolve around this idea, the spiderwick chronicles goes for a different approach where the creature make themselves invisible and can only be seen if they want to be seen.
I did some research into the cottingley fairies which further inspired me to draw these individuals. I researched this because a peer recommend it when I mentioned my interest in fantasy elements and fairies. I was interested because it was a local phenomenon that professionals were unable to disprove. While most people didn’t believe that the fairies were real the were stumped as to how they faked the photos. Thought they were able to fool some people and I like how they able to change some one belief or at least validate it with the photos. While I don’t believe these magical creatures exist id like to hope they are out there some where playing in the flower. The idea that magic is out there and that you can make look like it’s real is inspiring to me and I would like to inspire other people like that.
