Induction Task

For the induction (One shot, One minute) I plan to film it on the idea of giving Bradford better publicity and image. For all the events and shows hosted here such as the Light show that happened in town centre, or that really weird but still cool show where you explored a lot of Bradford where there was a giant puppet and boar. It was hardly advertised anywhere, it just kind happened. There were little to no ads on the radio or on TV it was only ever word of mouth.

Bradford should be known for more and not only for being the most dangerous place to live in all of England.

There is so much cultural diversity here and that should be made a proud point. It should be celebrated.

Script

In the past Bradford has been home to a fun variety of events, ranging from the colourful Light works Show [Bradford LIT] taking up all of town [2021] It stretched throughout showing off places you’d never think to look .

So you’d think that these shows and events would attract a large crowd which they do but the only crowds from Bradford. And that’s it. No one else. And I only actually heard of most of these events from my when my brothers go to work (In town) and pass by the unfinished temporary scaffolding. There were no advertisements of any kind promoting these events . The only ads were from word of mouth.

Bradford is such a diverse city. With it being so diverse we could have events and festivals embracing the differences and in turn teaching people about different cultures and traditions others celebrate and take part in leaving an extremely unique and interactive way to show off a city it’s people.

Proposal/What is Bradford City of Culture 2025

The whole point and purpose of the City of Culture title is to celebrate and embrace the local culture. Also the awarded city receives a significant investment to help and show off a wide range of cultures.

With the large mix of different people and religions my proposal is to show off just how diverse this city is. We can embrace one of the biggest things Bradford is known for.

Hosting Festivals is a great way to show, embrace and celebrate all the differences between people, cultures and religions.

Bradford has these banner lights that reach from street to street showing and reading ‘Eid Mubarak’ and ‘Happy Diwali’ or ‘Merry Christmas’ and that’s it. Nothing actually happens with the exception of Christmas. There would be large decorations scattered about. Granted they were all mostly of Santa and a Christmas tree, that’s not as much celebrating Christmas as it is a colourful way to make money.

You could use those light banners to help advertise these events as well as local radio ads and even a tv ad spot? And the events could be hosted in the heart of Bradford. You could have Eid Festivals, Diwali Festivals, Hanukkah and many more. Showcasing and embracing the many different peoples and religions and in turn leaving visitors with a really unique and interactive to have seen the city.

The idea may be childish but sometimes childish ideas are some of the best ideas.

I believe that this is one of the best ways to use the money provided by the City of Culture.
