Microphone types
Dynamic Microphones – These types of mics are best used for loud environments and loud concerts. These can however be used for podcasts as well, the side affect being that the audio pick up pattern or polar pattern is cardioid meaning it picks up sound from a more general front side direction. dynamic mics are more sensitive to louder sounds so you’ll be more likely to pick those noises up without a treated space or room.
You can talk pretty loudly without the microphone peaking and distorting, losing some nuance in a performance. If you use this type of microphone for podcasting it’ll give the illusion of having cheaper production value, unless you edit the audio in post. Lowering the volume where it’s too loud and adding some bass. Allowing a way for some seemingly increase the production value.
Condenser Microphones – Condenser Mics are best used to pick up high quality audio. A great example for picking up high quality audio using condenser microphones would be voice over work, radio shows and podcasts. Things that require nuance and subtlety. These types of mics typically require extra equipment, which can increase production cost. They typically require phantom power. But there are some mics that are plug and play. One example is the Rode Videomic NTG
Having the most expensive microphone doesn’t always mean having the best sound. It can but not always. Mic quality doesn’t really change so you can by a reasonably priced microphone for about £75.00 that can be 6 years old. And it can still have amazing quality.
Audio Editing
Audio editing is a great way give the illusion of higher quality production value. As there are great audio software that are available for free so it won’t cost you a thing enhance your audio. Adding sound effects, music and an opening jingle.
Depending on what your podcast is about. For example let’s say that it’s about horror, you’d want to add appropriate music and sound. You’d want to add something spooky and it would be the same for the jingle. When moving onto an other segment of the show you can re-use the jingle to audibly divide and segment the show.
I don’t yet have a jingle for the Podcast but I do have an idea for a jingle. I’m wanting to use the intro music to Regular Show as it’s only a few seconds long
Audio Jingles
For an audio jingle I used the opening music from Regular Show. For Outro music I, along with my guests sang a really bad rendition of ‘We’re all in this Together’
This shows the introduction to the podcast and regular show intro music. to mimic that shows style opening I added a camera shake effect to the video
Script
- Introduce myself – ‘Hi my name is Brown guy Number 3’
- What the Podcast is about – ‘idk it’s about movies and tvshows, all things that break my funny bone ita makes me go a ahahaha’
- Make awkward convocation – ‘so… Nice weather we’re having.’
- Talk about James Cameron’s Spiderman Movie and Zack Synders JL movies – If I can I’ll try to show concept art and also some of the script.
More Detailed In-depth Script
(I didn’t end up following the script I followed more of the bullet points as it gave a more chill and relaxed feel to the podcast)
Hi and Welcome to Movies, Shows and Stuff! The shortest Podcast you’ll listen to. With your host Me! And your guest of the day *drum roll SFX please* [_____]
Right, so today we’ll be or I’ll be talking about some known and unknown films and they just so happen to be Superhero Movies. Coincidence? I think no… Yes, yes it is… well kind of.
You see back in the ancient days (early 2000s) Movies Studios wanted to make an, at the time niche genre of film, Superhero Films, but they didn’t have enough confidence for that weird little genre. To actually make any movies and also because of many, many, MANY! more boring money reasons. Like licensing and character, company rights.
Character and Movie studio ownership. This seemingly small thing has potential to cause that largest lawsuits. With one of the biggest instigators being Marvels first and most diverse family, yup that’s right it’s the Fan4stic. And if you were thinking of anyone else. NO! you’re wrong! You’re a Stubid! Before writing this I, just like you, thought that Spiderman caused the biggest legal issues. Due to the character’s current live action state. With both Marvel and Sony still trying to make a deal to see their child on the weekend.
So now I think it’s about time that I actually get on with the subjects. Right, the thing first on today. What could that be?? Well it… it’s Spiderman. But not a Spiderman movie that you’re expecting nor thinking of. I don’t believe it’s one most people are familiar. But I will guess that you are familiar with have heard of a certain person called James Cameron. Director of hit films like Terminator, Jaws, True Lies and one of the most forgotten film ever made. Avatar. (that’s a joke)
So back in the late 80s several writers and directors worked on a Spiderman movie and one of these directors being James Cameron. Now his revisions of the script and adaption of the source material had some slightly more adult themes for the relatively child friendly character. But this is most likely down to the fact that Spiderman comic books in the late 80s saw the character in a darker light.
Cameron’s intention was to have a real look at what a superhero is and grounding it in a really weird metaphor about puberty and the journey of adolescence. With Peter Parker being actively aggressive and using an abundance of profanities. As do most of the characters in the film.
Basically it’s just an edgy Spiderman movie where the known villains are changed, given different names and backstories. There’s also this weird plot where the main villain is trying to start a ‘better race‘ and he tries to convince Spiderman of this. Oh and I almost forgot to mention that Leonardo DiCaprio was set to play Peter Parker and bloody MAGGIE SMITH as Aunt May. Arnold Schwarzenegger as Otto Octavius/Doctor Octopus. Yeah it’s a really weird film looking back at the idea, I mean it’s not as bad the the Michael Jackson Spider-Man Movie.
Now for todays next Subject. It is yet another Superhero Movie.
